Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia 76ers could have used Allen Iverson down the stretch. Aaron McKie, Glenn Robinson and Eric Snow each missed key jumpers in the final 25 seconds as the Los Angeles Clippers held on for a 101-98 victory over the 76ers. Quentin Richardson scored 22 points, Elton Brand added 20 and Corey Maggette 18 for the Clippers, who had lost four in a row and six of seven against the Sixers. Philadelphia was playing its sixth straight game without Iverson, its All-Star guard and NBA's leading scorer who is sidelined with a swollen right knee. "Injuries happen in this game. You have to play through them," Sixers coach Randy Ayers said. "We've been fortunate to have some guys step up for us and play hard. Obviously you miss a great player like Iverson, but you can't use that as an excuse." The Clippers held an 88-79 advantage early in the fourth quarter before the Sixers pulled within 100-98 on a basket by Snow with 33 seconds left. Derrick Coleman stole a pass from Marko Jaric seconds later and the ball was worked to McKie in the left corner. But the league's leading 3-point shooter could not convert. After Richardson split a pair of free throws to make it 101-98 with 23 seconds left, Robinson missed a fadeaway that would have pulled the Sixers within one. The ball was tied up with 7.7 seconds remaining and Philadelphia won the jump, but after a timeout, Snow missed a 3-pointer over Jaric while drifting to his left and time expired. "We wanted a good look at the three," Ayers said. "The Clippers did a good job on defense. They shut down our options, which meant Eric had to take the shot." "Glenn was supposed to get a three off but they did a good job defending him," Snow said. "He threw it back to me and I had to throw it up." The Clippers led by as much as 12 points in the second quarter before the Sixers used a charge to pull within 58-54 at the break. "We need to learn to put teams like Philly away in the first half when we were up," Jaric said. "We relaxed too much, passing behind our back. We need to be more disciplines from the beginning to the end."
