Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- For the Detroit Pistons, 100 is the magic number. The Pistons extended offensive and defensive streaks centered around the century mark as Chauncey Billups scored 31 points in a 108-99 victory over the New Orleans Hornets. Ben Wallace collected 16 points and 18 rebounds for the Pistons, who blew a 12-point fourth-quarter lead but recovered to win consecutive games for the first time since December 1-3. Detroit (18-13) tallied a season high and has won its last 25 games when scoring 100 points. Its defensive streak is even more impressive, having not allowed triple digits in its last 33 regular-season games dating to a 110-107 overtime win at Memphis on April 13. "I don't even think we're a good defensive team yet," Pistons coach Larry Brown said. "We've made some progress, but there are still things that I need to harp on until we fix them." The Hornets had a couple of chances to reach the century mark, but Baron Davis missed a 3-pointer and Jamaal Magloire missed a free throw in the waning seconds. Billups made 10-of-16 shots, including 4-of-7 from the arc, as he shook off a case of the flu. "I tried to pick as many spots as I could to give him some rest, but we needed him out there," Brown said. "He made sure to tell me at the end of the game that he did that with the flu. And I teased him that he just had the Baron Davis flu." "I started to get sick last night and I was really frustrated when I woke up this morning," Billups said. "I felt horrible and I didn't know if I would be able to play. But then I thought about what a big game this was and how Baron is such a great matchup, so I wanted to give it a shot. I had a little soup and felt a little better and decided I could go." The Pistons had five players in double figures, shot 54.4 percent (42-of-77) from the field and held a 40-31 rebounding advantage as they avenged an 81-80 home loss to New Orleans on November 23. "We did a great job of beating them on the boards," said Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince, who scored nine points. "They beat us last time we played each other. It was a big win for us." David Wesley scored 22 points for the Hornets, who have lost four straight road games. Davis added 19 points and nine assists. A steal and layup by Darrell Armstrong capped a 12-0 run and pulled New Orleans into an 85-85 tie with 8:38 to play. Detroit took the lead for good at 89-87 on a driving layup by Billups less than a minute later. "Chauncey had a terrific game, by hitting shots when they needed him to and by just being a presence on the floor for them," Hornets coach Tim Floyd said. "I love playing this well, but I hope I don't have to keep feeling this miserable to do it," Billups said. A jumper by Billups widened the lead to 97-92 with 2:33 left. Corliss Williamson had a pair of baskets around a 3-pointer by Wesley before a driving dunk by Tayshaun Prince made it 103-95 with 34 seconds to go.
