Game StoryTORONTO (Ticker) -- A new year did not change the Toronto Raptors' luck against the New Orleans Hornets. Baron Davis scored 22 points and P.J. Brown and Jamaal Magloire each had double-doubles as the Hornets rolled to an 86-74 victory over the struggling Raptors. New Orleans dominated from start to finish en route to its fifth straight victory over Toronto. The Hornets have won 19 of the last 24 meetings with the Raptors, who have not posted a victory in the series since April 9, 2002. "I can't explain it," New Orleans guard David Wesley said. "It's just one of those things where we match up well and seem to have our way with them." New Orleans gave Toronto little hope in this one, scoring 19 of the game's first 25 points and holding a 24-14 lead after the first quarter. Magloire scored nine points in the quarter and Brown and Davis added six apiece. "They physically stood us on our heels in the first quarter and we didn't recover until the second half," Toronto coach Kevin O'Neill said. "When they have a size advantage, you have to fight twice as hard. We didn't do that." The Hornets pulled away late in the first half, closing the second quarter with a 24-10 run. Darrell Armstrong scored six of his eight points during the stretch and Davis had the final five, capping it with a 3-pointer for a 59-35 halftime cushion. "We played really well in the first half, probably the best half of basketball we've played this season," New Orleans coach Tim Floyd said. Brown opened the second half with a jumper and Davis followed with a fadeaway jumper to give New Orleans its largest lead at 63-35 with 10:32 remaining. Brown had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Magloire added 13 and 11 as New Orleans dominated inside, holding an overwhelming 51-32 edge on the glass and scoring 17 points off 15 offensive boards. "I wouldn't say it was easy," Magloire said. "We went to our advantage and that was inside. Me and P.J. converted the first few times and we got more confidence." Vince Carter scored 22 points and Alvin Williams was the only other player in double figures with 14 for Toronto, which has lost seven of 10 following a season-high five-game winning streak. The Raptors got little from point guard Jalen Rose, who had just two points on 1-of-8 shooting. Rookie center Chris Bosh scored just three points in 23 minutes. "We didn't get it done," Rose said. "We didn't come out with energy, we didn't come out with enthusiasm and obviously it's unfortunate. We can't allow that to keep happening."
