Game StoryMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Dallas Mavericks at their own game. Michael Redd scored 21 points and Brian Skinner added a season-high 20 as the Bucks matched their best offensive performance of the season for a 109-101 victory over the Mavericks in the finale of a home-and-home series. Dallas is the second-highest scoring team in the NBA but was outgunned by surging Milwaukee, which scored 62 points in the paint, including 18 fast-break points, in the second game between the teams in four days. "We did a better job offensively," Bucks coach Terry Porter said. "We had a better understanding of their defensive scheme. We got a lot of guys some alley-oops at the basket and we did a pretty good job against their zone." "Our focus was to get back at them in whatever way possible," Milwaukee forward Tim Thomas said. "That's what we did, we played better." Desmond Mason scored six of his eight points during a 16-6 run that Toni Kukoc capped with a breakaway dunk to give the Bucks a 101-97 edge with 5:14 remaining. But the Mavericks responded off 10 consecutive points, highlighted by six from rookie Josh Howard. Antawn Jamison layup brough Dallas within 101-97 with 1:44 to go, but Dan Gadzuric responded with a fast-break dunk for Milwaukee and Damon Jones added a layup. A physical sequence on a Mavericks' possession led to a fast-break dunk by Redd, who sank a technical free throw for a 106-99 cushion with 21 seconds left after Dallas forward Antoine Walker was ejected for arguing the play from the bench. "(The Bucks) prepared a little more than us and finished the game well," Howard said. "They attacked us and we weren't ready for that." Gadzuric finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Bucks, who bounced back from Tuesday's loss at Dallas with their seventh win in 11 games. "(Gadzuric) was huge for us," Porter said. "Everybody who came off the bench gave us a huge lift. When he's active like that, we're a better team." Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points to lead six players in double figures and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Mavericks, who played without forward Eduardo Najera (sore left knee) and center Danny Fortson (infected tooth). "(The Bucks) were more aggressive and dominated us with their inside play," Dallas coach Don Nelson said. "They deserved to win." Jamison had 20 points and nine rebounds off the bench and Steve Nash collected 17 points and 10 assists for Dallas, which has lost 13 of its first 31 games this season. It did not record its 13th loss last season until February 25.
