Game Story

BOSTON (Ticker) -- Ricky Davis enjoyed being on the other side of the Boston Celtics' dominance of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Paul Pierce scored 13 of his 30 points in the third quarter and Davis added seven of his 16 in the final period as the Celtics rolled to their 13th straight victory over the Cavaliers, 107-82. Boston was facing Cleveland for the first time since acquiring Davis and centers Chris Mihm and Michael Stewart for forward Eric Williams, center Tony Battie and Kedrick Brown on December 16. The deal did not help the Cavaliers end their slide in Boston, where they also have lost 12 in a row since November 7, 1997. They have not defeated the Celtics anywhere since November 4, 2000. Boston was never threatened in the second half and Davis helped put away his former team just a day after referring to Cleveland as "a black hole." "I talked to him about it weeks ago and he had this date circled," Pierce said. "He wanted to come back and play well and he did." "I was real pumped up," Davis said. "Too pumped up where I had to calm myself down just so I didn't go too wild and too crazy. Coach waited a little bit and let me simmer down before I went in there and handled my business." Davis put his animosity towards the Cavaliers behind him. "It's over with," he said. "I'm in a comfortable spot and I'm feeling good." Pierce, Mike James and Jiri Welsch each scored seven points in the first quarter as Boston jumped out to a 33-21 advantage, making 12-of-23 shots in the opening 12 minutes. The Celtics never relinquished the lead, improving to 7-7 since acquiring Davis. Davis made 6-of-9 shots in 28 minutes and Pierce fell just shy of a triple-double with 12 rebounds and eight assists. "It was a great win. We're trying to put it together and trying to pull off consecutive wins. It was nice to get some momentum going," Davis said. Battie had 10 points and 13 rebounds in his return to the FleetCenter, but Williams struggled, scoring only eight points in 15 minutes due to foul trouble. "I got a couple of fouls and I wound up taking myself out of the game," Williams said. "They were a better team than us tonight, that's all. Our team didn't compete tonight and during the course of the season you're going to have games like this." Rookie LeBron James had 19 points and six assists to lead Cleveland, which fell to 5-7 since the trade. "It was one of those nights where we couldn't get into a flow," he said. "Team-wise, we just didn't come to play."
