Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Michael Redd, Toni Kukoc and the Milwaukee Bucks remain formidable at home. Redd scored 20 points and Kukoc added 16 off the bench to help the Bucks post their ninth straight victory at the Bradley Center, a 111-103 triumph over the Boston Celtics. "Right now we have a lot of pride at home, and we knew Boston had been playing well lately," Redd said. "But we said, 'We're at home, we haven't been losing, let's keep it going.'" Former Celtic Erick Strickland added 14 points and Joe Smith and Desmond Mason added 12 apiece for the Bucks, who have won six of their last seven games overall and snapped the Celtis' three-game winning streak. "(Strickland is) a constant professional, he works every day, waits for his opportunity and when he get it he goes out and performs," Bucks coach Terry Porter said. "He's played well against Boston the last time we played them here (a 100-94 win November 29). Obviously, he has some experience with Boston, he played there, so he has a feel for those guys a little bit, so he always does a good job." "Strick can play," Celtics coach Jim O'Brien said. "He's tough-minded, he gets in front of people, he takes charges, he does the dirty work. He drives the ball and takes the three. We loved him when he was with us (two seasons ago) and Terry Porter has a great player." Milwaukee had 10 players with at least six points, with five bench players contributing 56 points. "They played well," Redd said. "Guys are coming in ready. Erick Strickland, Des, Toni, Damon Jones played well tonight. If we can get that from them, which we have been, for the rest of the season, we'll be all right." Boston jumped to a 21-11 lead 8:45 into the contest before Milwaukee countered with a 33-14 run over the next 12 minutes. "We didn't have the defensive intensity (early), we were having a lot of breakdowns in our game plan," Strickland said. "We had to get back to executing our game plan, we came back with some defensive intensity in the second quarter and that allowed us to get back into the game." The Bucks extended a 50-44 halftime edge to 83-70 heading into the fourth quarter, and the Celtics got no closer than six points in the last minute. "Our defense was poor. We did not defend," said O'Brien, whose team allowed the Bucks to shoot 49 percent (36-of-74). "We did not get a good enough consistency with what we had on the court. If you don't defend on the road you will lose and you should lose." Ricky Davis scored 17 of his season-high 33 points in the fourth quarter for Boston, which had won seven of nine on the road. "I got a lot of shots up. I was in a good rhythm, it felt good," said Davis, who shot 13-of-21. "I'm picking up things on the defensive end. We need to get some stops to win the game." Paul Pierce added 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds but made only 6-of-17 shots.
