Game Story

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Cliff Robinson's hot 3-point shooting was more than enough to help the Golden State Warriors snap a two-game losing streak. Robinson hit a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 35 points as the Warriors cruised to a 119-102 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. A 14-year veteran, Robinson made 7-of-8 3-pointers, tying the franchise record shared by Chris Mullin and Tim Hardaway. His previous high of six came six nights ago in a 113-110 overtime victory over Seattle. "I have made 1,000 3-pointers in my career, I am going to have some good nights shooting the ball," Robinson said. "I think (it was) by just being aggressive and not worrying about the fact that I was going through a tough stretch shooting the ball and just trying to stay positive and focused." Jason Richardson added 25 points and Erick Dampier had 18 and 11 rebounds for the Warriors, who won for just the second time in 11 games. "It was fun playing against (rookie LeBron James), he is going to be a great player in this league as long as he continues to work hard and work on his game," Richardson said. The top overall pick in the 2003 draft, James paced the Cavaliers with 29 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent them from losing their third straight road game against Golden State. Eric Williams contributed 21 points and Darius Miles had 18. James made two free throws with 5:37 left to cut Cleveland's deficit to 98-91. But Golden State went on a 17-5 run over the next three minutes to build a 115-96 lead. Robinson scored nine points, all on 3-pointers, during the spurt. "That was the story," James said. "We couldn't make any defensive stops and they got out on us and gained the lead, and we couldn't pull it off." Cleveland seemed to be a step slow defensively all night. The Cavaliers allowed Golden State to get a season-high point total while shooting 52 percent (43-of-82) from the field and 77 percent (10-of-13) from 3-point range. "We just could not stop anyone from start to finish," Cavaliers coach Paul Silas said. "Cliff was unbelievable with the 3-point shooting, but early on, Dampier got us inside and I thought Speedy (Claxton) did a good job." Golden State had 29 assists and just 11 turnovers, despite playing without starting point guard Nick Van Exel. The Warriors placed Van Exel on the injured list Thursday with inflammation in his surgically repaired left knee. Claxton made the most of a start, scoring 11 points and tying a career high with 11 assists. "It was very important," Claxton said. "Nick's a great player. We've got to get a lot from the point position." Adonal Foyle was activated from the injured list and had three rebounds in four minutes after missing 34 games due to left knee surgery. The Warriors also were without reserve forward Brian Cardinal, who sat out with the flu.
