Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- After sweeping the teams that met in the NBA Finals, the Indiana Pacers needed another clutch shot by Reggie Miller to beat the upset-minded Atlanta Hawks. Miller's 3-pointer with 55 seconds left gave the Pacers the lead for good in a 100-97 victory over the Hawks. The win was the fourth straight and 11th in 12 games for the Pacers, who own the best record in the East at 32-11. Indiana made quite a statement this past weekend with back-to-back wins over defending NBA champion San Antonio and New Jersey. "It easily could have been a let-up game for us," Miller said. "We've had trouble with Atlanta in games past. We knew we were going to have our hands full. They have a lot of talented players." Five days ago at Indiana, Miller scored all 13 of his points in the fourth quarter to key an an 85-78 win over Atlanta. This one was even closer, and the 38-year-old Miller again was there to bail out his team. With the game tied, 93-93, Miller drifted from the top of the key to the right side as defender Stephen Jackson cheated into the lane to help out on Jermaine O'Neal. But O'Neal passed the ball back out to Miller, who drilled a 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down as Jackson was late coming back to the perimeter. "That's what he (Miller) does," O'Neal said. "He's the all-time greatest 3-point shooter that played the game. A lot of people are saying he's losing it because he's not taking that many shots anymore. He comes through every time we need him to." After a miss by Atlanta's Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Miller had a chance to put the nail in the coffin but misfired on a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 14 seconds left. Miller converted a pair of free throws with five seconds remaining to increase the lead to 100-97 before Jackson threw up an airball 3-pointer. A future Hall of Famer, Miller has seen his role reduced over the last several seasons as the emphasis has shifted to young stars O'Neal and Ron Artest, who combined for 46 points and 15 rebounds. Abdur-Rahim led the Hawks with 32 points, including 16-of-17 from the free throw line. But again it was not enough for the Hawks, who lost all four meetings with the Pacers for the first time since 1976-77 - Indiana's first season in the NBA. "They beat us four times in a row this year, but we played them tough," Abdur-Rahim said. "There's no consolation and that doesn't really mean much, but we battled and just came out on the back end of it." The Pacers held a 93-87 lead after a layup by Artest with 3:29 left, but Abdur-Rahim made four free throws and banked in a short jumper to tie the game for the final time with 2:08 to go. "I thought at that point we had them," said Hawks guard Jason Terry, who had 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting.
