Game StoryMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The best offensive performance of Michael Redd's career was motivated by his defensive effort on Tracy McGrady. Redd scored 32 of his career-high 40 points in the second half and held McGrady in check down the stretch as the Milwaukee Bucks posted a 113-102 victory over the defenseless Orlando Magic. A former reserve who has started every game this season, Redd scored at least 30 points for the fourth time this season. After struggling in the first half, he caught fire over the final 24 minutes and finished at 16-of-25 from the field. His big fourth quarter led Milwaukee to its 11th win in 12 games at the Bradley Center and was the team's first 40-point game since Ray Allen totaled 47 vs. Charlotte on April 14, 2002. Redd excelled in the fourth quarter on both ends. Motivated by holding McGrady scoreless in the final 12 minutes and limiting him to three missed shots, Redd scored 18 points in the period. "No question to feel that you can stop somebody gives you more juice on the other end," Redd said. "He's a tough player. He had 34 points and embarrassed us (in a loss at Orlando on Monday). We wanted to come back at home and make a statement." "Thats's huge. Not just holding him to 20, (but) even the 20 that he got, he had to work for it," Milwaukee forward Joe Smith added. "Players like that, you always want to make them work for it as much as possible." Redd made just 4-of-10 shots in the first half as Milwaukee faced a 51-46 deficit. But he scored 14 points in the third quarter, capping an 8-0 spurt with a 3-pointer to give the Bucks a 76-74 advantage heading into the final period. "Unbelievable," Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said. "That's a career high for him and he had the toughest challenge defensively, guarding Tracy McGrady. In that stretch in the third, he really carried us. He hit three or four shots and kept us in striking distance. Eventually we got the lead and then held on." In the final 12 minutes, the 6-6 guard was even better. He gave Milwaukee a 102-92 lead with a three-point play at the 2:48 mark. When the Bucks nearly gave it back, they needed Redd to take over again. "It was an unbelievable zone, my teammates kept feeding me," said Redd, who made his final 10 shots. "I was able to play free tonight and have fun." With Milwaukee's lead reduced to 102-100, Redd scored seven points in the final 47 seconds. He surpassed his previous career high of 36 with a pair from the line that made it 105-100 with 41 seconds to play. "He did have a very good basketball game tonight," said Orlando coach Johnny Davis, whose team lost its ninth straight road game. "They did a good job of screening for him and getting him open. He did what he had to do and he gave them the offense they needed on their home court."
