Game StoryMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Memphis Grizzlies had their "Big Three." The Los Angeles Lakers did not. Jason Williams, Pau Gasol and Mike Miller all came up big in the second half as the Grizzlies matched a franchise-high six-game winning streak with an 88-82 victory over the shorthanded Lakers. Williams was the general in the second half as the Grizzlies rallied from a six-point deficit at intermission. He scored 10 of his 17 points after the break and also collected 10 assists. "Jason's coming into his own right now," Grizzlies forward Shane Battier said. "He's been hurt, but he's getting his feel back and he's been great for us." Williams also came up the biggest in a 19-7 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters that gave the Grizzlies control of the contest. Miller collected 18 points and Miller 17 for the Grizzlies, who improved to 2-1 against the Lakers this season. "It was a game where things didn't go well early for us," Miller said. "They came out hard and outrebounded us on our home court, but we came back in the second half. That's growing up a lot." The Lakers again were without injured superstars Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone. Their absence showed as the Lakers record their lowest offensive output of the season and shot just 35 percent (29-of-83) from the field en route to their eighth straight road loss. "We don't care about points, we care about winning ballgames," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We don't have the players or personnel to go out and score 105 points." Gary Payton scored 28 points to lead the Lakers, who built a 46-40 halftime lead before falling apart over the final two quarters. "We have to play 48 minutes to win basketball games and we're not doing that," Payton said. "We're playing 24, and we're losing at the end." Gasol's layup with 2:34 left in the third quarter started a 7-0 run that ended the period and gave the Grizzlies a 69-62 lead. Gasol had nine points in the quarter while Miller contributed seven. Williams hit a jumper and 3-pointer, giving Memphis a comfortable 84-71 advantage with 4:49 to go. The Lakers struggled on offense the entire period and had just three baskets before Payton converted a layup and Bryon Russell a 3-pointer in the final minute. Bonzi Wells added 11 points for the Grizzlies, who shot 47 percent (36-of-76) and were able to win despite making just 12-of-23 free throws.
