Game StoryPORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- It took career-best efforts from Jason Richardson and Erick Dampier for the Golden State Warriors to finally win a road game. Richardson made seven 3-pointers and Dampier swept 11 of his 20 rebounds on the offensive end as the Warriors ended a 12-game road slide with a 105-87 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. Golden State had not won on the road since December 17 at Atlanta. In that run was an empty five-game trip and setbacks earlier this week at the Los Angeles Clippers and Seattle. It also had not won in 11 trips to Portland since January 27, 1998, a day that began with Warriors players giving testimony in Latrell Sprewell's grievance case against the NBA. "We had great energy from the start of the game," Warriors coach Eric Musselman said. "We played 48 good minutes tonight. We played 44 good minutes against the Clippers." Led by the outside-inside attack of Richardson and Dampier, the Warriors ended both streaks. En route to a season-high 31 points, Richardson made his first seven 3-pointers, including a pair on consecutive possessions that gave Golden State a 96-83 lead with 3:48 left. "I was just feeling it early," said Richardson, whose previous high for 3-pointers in a game was six. "It was like, just give me the ball. I had some open chances and I took it." "He had one of his best games of the season," Musselman said. Dampier collected his fourth 20-rebound game of the season, adding 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting as he dominated the paint on both ends. His offensive boards matched a career high set February 14, 1999, also against Portland. "I just played hard," said Dampier, who helped Golden State to an 18-8 advantage in second-chance points. "I tried to get myself into position to get rebounds. ... I just come out and work as hard as I can." Speedy Claxton had 15 points and seven assists for the Warriors, who shot 50 percent (39-of-78) from the field, including 11-of-17 from the arc. They limited the Trail Blazers to 35 points in the second half. The Trail Blazers, who never led, heard boos as they dropped their fourth straight home game and sixth in seven overall. Zach Randolph scored 23 points but was shut out in the fourth quarter. "It was a no-energy game for us," Portland coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We had no energy from the start. The third quarter was a little better, but every time we tried to raise the level, they responded and hit those threes." Portland forward Darius Miles, acquired Wednesday in a trade with Cleveland, had 12 points and four assists in 20 minutes off the bench with his new team. "I like the team the way it is right now," Miles said. "Veteran point guard (in Damon Stoudamire), some leaders on the team. This is still a playoff team." Portland's record says otherwise. At 17-24, it has its worst midway point since standing 16-25 during the 1975-76 season. Dampier had a tip-in, turnaround jumper and two free throws to build the lead to 90-81 with 5 1/2 minutes to go. Rasheed Wallace backed in for a jumper before Richardson struck twice from the arc.
