Game StoryBOSTON (Ticker) -- With Allan Houston on the sidelines, the New York Knicks needed everyone to score. That's exactly what happened. Stephon Marbury scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures and Keith Van Horn had 14 of his 16 in the third quarter as the Knicks rolled to a 92-74 victory over the struggling Boston Celtics. New York got the bad news on Friday that Houston - the team's leading scorer at 19.5 points per game - may be sidelined until the All-Star break due to soreness in his surgically repaired right knee. Shandon Anderson started in Houston's place and scored 16 points. Michael Doleac added 15 off the bench and Dikembe Mutombo collected 10 and 10 rebounds as the Knicks overcame the absence of their best shooter. "Guys are going to step up," Marbury said. "It's an opportunity and guys want to play. Anytime you're in a situation where you've got guys starving to play and they want minutes, the only thing they want to do is get out there and play the best they can." Van Horn, who continues to play through a shoulder injury, had just two points at halftime. But he made 5-of-8 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the third quarter as New York pulled away. "Stephon called some plays that went to me and I just tried to make the most of them and not worry about my shoulder," Van Horn said. The Knicks made only 9-of-22 shots in the quarter but made all eight of their free throws and held the Celtics to 6-of-26 shooting. "We really picked it up in the second half. We came out and played extremely well on the defensive end," said Marbury, who did not score after halftime. "I had it going in the first half and then Van Horn finished it in the second half." New York scored the final eight points of the third quarter - six by Anderson - and had a 78-57 lead entering the fourth period. It had its largest lead at 84-57 with 9:14 remaining. Mark Blount had a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Celtics, who shot less than 32 percent (26-of-82) and lost for the seventh time in nine games. "This was one of those bizarre game where it didn't seem right from the get-go. Nothing was in sync," Boston coach John Carroll said. Boston's Paul Pierce managed just 12 points on 3-of-16 shooting. He was booed in the fourth quarter after missing an open dunk and launching an airball 3-pointer on consecutive possessions. "I've been here for six years and I've heard the worst and I've heard the best," he said. "But it's something that doesn't bother me. Today, we deserved to be booed. We didn't play our best basketball and we were sloppy. We just deserved it."
