Game Story

SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Jerry Sloan likely won't get his 900th win until Andrei Kirilenko gets back on track. Sloan remained stuck on 899 career wins for the third consecutive game and Kirilenko continued to struggle as the Chicago Bulls snapped a 26-game road losing streak against the Western Conference with a 95-79 victory over the Utah Jazz. Sloan is one win away from becoming just the fourth active coach with 900 career victories, but the Jazz are struggling as he approaches the milestone. "Losing is so easy, let's just go out and do it again, and that's the way it looked like we played," Sloan said. "You might ask them why they didn't come to play tonight. That would be a fair question." Utah's funk has been typified by Kirilenko, who was named to the Western Conference All-Star team for the first time Tuesday. Averaging 16.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this season, he has just 31 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in his last three games. "Tonight we weren't ready to compete," said Kirilenko, who had eight points and four rebounds. "They were just a tougher team. There is no weak team in the NBA; everybody can compete." Chicago never trailed after the opening minutes and cruised to its first road win against a Western Conference team since March 16, 2002 in Houston. It lost all 14 road games against foes from the West in 2002-03 and its first 12 this season. "Whenever we get wins, it's a big win," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. "The guys on this team have been through a lot. We're not hung up on the streak or anything like that. It's just a big road win for us." The Bulls snapped an 11-game road losing streak overall and won for just the second time in 22 games against the Western Conference this season. They snapped a seven-game road losing streak to the Jazz, winning at the Delta Center for the first time since November 24, 1995. Eddy Curry had 23 points and 12 rebounds and rookie Kirk Hinrich scored 17 points as the Chicago snapped a five-game overall losing streak, improving to 1-5 on a season-high seven-game road trip. "Eddy is a huge factor out there when he's aggressive," Skiles said. "When he maintains his poise and doesn't try to do anything too quick, he's good down there." Eddie Robinson added 16 points off the bench and Jamal Crawford had 13 for the Bulls, who shot 53 percent (33-of-62) from the floor to overcome 27 turnovers. DeShawn Stevenson scored 17 points to lead the Jazz, who fell below .500 for just the second time this season. The Bulls pulled away midway through the first half, opening the second quarter with a 12-2 run. Robinson and Rick Brunson each had five points during the stretch, which Antonio Davis capped with a layup for a 35-22 edge.
