Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Jamal Crawford, Kirk Hinrich and the Chicago Bulls will feel good about themselves heading into the All-Star break. The Boston Celtics apparently thought the break started a day early. Crawford scored 27 points while Hinrich tied a season high with 23 and set a career high with 14 assists as the Bulls rolled to a 107-87 rout of the Celtics. Chicago earsed an early six-point deficit with a 25-6 run bridging the first two quarters as Hinrich had six points. Boston got no closer than 11 thereafter. "It doesn't happen that often that we can coast like that," Chicago coach Scott Skiles said. "Everybody can feel going into the break. They can relax, get away from the game, have a good time. I thought we did a lot of things well. Jamal's defense on (Paul) Pierce was very good." Chicago set a season high for first-half points, grabbing a 61-46 advantage at intermission. The Bulls shot 51 percent (40-of-78) and improved to 7-0 when hitting the century mark. "Kirk and I fed off each other," Crawford said. "We usually go inside and out. Tonight, Kirk had it going from the outside and I just kept feeding off of him." The Bulls hit a season-high 11 3-pointers on their way to winning the season series with the Celtics for the first time since 1997-98. Chicago led by as many as 33 points and its starters watched the fourth quarter from the bench. The Bulls have won 14 of 18 meetings with the Celtics at the United Center. "I wasn't happy with the way I played last game," Hinrich said. "It was important to win going into the break. Everyone took it upon themselves to do their job, offensively and defensively." Chris Mihm led Boston with 14 points, but Pierce - the Celtics' lone All-Star was limited to a season-low four on 1-of-6 shooting. The Celtics have lost eight of their last nine games. "Tonight was very disappointing," Boston coach John Carroll said. "We dug ourselves a hole and we could not come back. I've told them many times that you have to play all four quarters, no one is going to give you a win."
