Game StoryMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Memphis Grizzlies used a balanced attack to get coach Hubie Brown his 400th victory. James Posey scored 19 points to lead six players in double figures as Memphis posted its fourth straight home win, a 109-92 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Stromile Swift added 18 points off the bench and Pau Gasol had 17 as the Grizzlies beat Dallas for the second time in the same season for the first time since the franchise joined the league in 1995-96. "We came out, everybody contributed and played hard," Posey said. "We had good success on both ends and were just able to play our style of basketball." Brown, 70, is the oldest coach in the NBA. He took over as Grizzlies coach on November 12, 2002 after a 16-year hiatus and already has led the team to its best season ever. "Outstanding," Mavericks guard Steve Nash said. "I think I'm a little too young to realize how good of a coach he is, I've seen first hand now. I'm incredibly impressed by what he has done to this team, this franchise... and I really admire him." Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 24 points and nine rebounds. Michael Finley had 15 points while Josh Howard and Antawn Jamison both had 10 for Dallas, which has lost two of three. Nowitzki's jumper with 4:00 left in the third put Dallas ahead 67-65. But Memphis went on a 27-9 run to build a 92-76 lead with 9:08 remaining in the fourth. "We just never played up to our capability," Nowitzki said. "We had an awful lot of players just play awful," Mavericks coach Don Nelson said. "We didn't play well enough to win." This was the third meeting between the two teams this season. The Mavericks won the previous meeting in Dallas 105-98 on December 27. Dallas struggled with its defense throughout and allowed Memphis to build a 54-47 halftime advantage. "We couldn't stop them on the break," Nowitzki said. "Offensively we just missed shots and we couldn't ever get the rhythm going." The Mavericks tightened their defense in the third and used a 18-9 spurt to build a 65-63 lead with 4:39 remaining. But Memphis' offense got back in gear and the Grizzlies pulled away.
