Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The All-Star break, an injured Brad Miller and the suspension of Chris Webber couldn't slow down the NBA's best team. Behind All-Star Peja Stojakovic's 28 points, the Sacramento Kings continued their dominance of the Boston Celtics with a 127-111 victory. The Celtics have lost eight straight games at Arco Arena and seven of the last eight meetings overall with the Kings. "Offensively, we were very good," Sacramento coach Rick Adelman said. "We shot the ball really well and passed it well." Sacramento was on cruise control for most of the game, opening a 32-20 lead at the end of the first quarter and maintaining a double-digit lead the rest of the night. Bobby Jackson provided a spark off the bench, scoring nine points on three 3-pointers in the last 1:39 of the first quarter. "You know me, I ain't scared to shoot," Jackson said. "That's my motto. I just wanted to come out, play well and make things happen." Playing without Miller, their All-Star center, the Kings shot a scorching 56 percent (47-of-84) as seven players reached double figures. Miller is out at least a week with a sprained right foot, suffered in Sunday's All-Star game. The Kings tied a franchise record with 16 3-pointers en route their fourth straight win. They own the NBA's best record at 38-13 and the best home mark at 24-4. Vlade Divac recorded his eighth career triple-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Rookie Darius Songaila added a career-high 17 points for Sacramento. "If the All-Star break helps anybody, it helps me," Divac said. "I'm 36 years old so I need those four days off. I feel pretty good and we've been playing great basketball the last couple of months." "(Vlade Divac) is just the consummate basketball player," Boston coach John Carroll said. "He passes, he shoots, he rebounds. He's a wonderful center, a wonderful basketball player." Ricky Davis scored 32 points, 26 in the second half, on 11-of-12 shooting for Boston. All-Star Paul Pierce bounced back from a season-low four points in his last game to score 27. "There's a reason why they're the best offensive team in the league," Pierce said. "They make a ton of shots. That's what makes them one of the elite teams. They make the tough shots and it doesn't matter who is on the court with them." Earlier in the day, Webber was suspended eight games by the NBA - five for violating the league's substance abuse policy and three for lying to a federal grand jury. Sacramento travels to Minnesota in a showdown of the league's top teams on Thursday night. "They (Minnesota) are playing good basketball at home," Stojakovic said. "Of course we're going to miss Brad, but you have to play through injuries. We all have to be more agressive."
