Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- You know it's an easy night for the Detroit Pistons when Darko Milicic plays. Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups each scored 20 points and Milicic played a season-high 12 minutes as the Pistons cruised to a 105-83 rout of the Atlanta Hawks. Just 2-5 at home since a 91-82 loss to the Hawks on January 25, the Pistons left little doubt about the outcome of this one as they led by double digits for all but 5:59 of the contest. "We've broken our hearts too many times already this year," Billups said. "Tonight we had another nice game and proved that we learned a very good lesson that you have to put teams away." Hamilton and Billups led the way, helping the Pistons to a 30-4 advantage in fast-break points. The Pistons had 25 points from their backcourt in the first quarter, when they raced to a 38-21 lead. "The fast break was great," said Billups, who also handed out eight assists and had three steals. "We know if we played solid defense and held them to one shot, no second shots, we could get out and run on that team. When we do that, we're a very, very tough team to beat." "I think we can run a lot, especially with Rasheed (Wallace) in the game," Hamilton said. "He probably has one of the best outlets (passes) that I've ever played with. He gets the rebound up high and throws the outlet and we're just going out and running." With the game in hand, Milicic - the second pick in April's draft who rarely plays - was on the court in the third quarter. The Serbian teenager scored two points and committed five fouls. He also left the contest briefly in the fourth quarter with a bloody nose before returning. Stephen Jackson scored 16 points to lead Atlanta, which has lost four of its last five games. "They scored a lot of points in transition and we can't afford to give up easy baskets like that," Atlanta coach Terry Stotts said. "They scored a lot of points in transition, and we can't afford to give up easy baskets like that." Wallace, who played one game for the Hawks before being dealt to the Pistons at the trade deadline, had just six points on 2-of-10 shooting in 21 minutes. "Rasheed probably shouldn't have played," Pistons coach Larry Brown said. "His back was really stiff." In the first quarter, Billups scored 11 points, Hamilton 10 and Tayshaun Prince nine as the Pistons broke open the game. They led by as many as 30 points in the second quarter before settling for a 66-38 advantage at the break. "The thing about it, we just let the game come to us," Hamilton said. "We didn't take a whole lot of shots We just went out and played and let the offense make plays for ourselves."
