Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Ron Artest carried the Indiana Pacers all game long before Reggie Miller played the hero in overtime. Miller's 27-footer with just under two minutes to play in overtime snapped a tie, and the Pacers relied on their defense the rest of the way in a 101-94 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. "I felt like we were in dire straights when we were in the OT so I baited (Bobby) Simmons into going for a steal," Miller said. "He did what I wanted him to do and I hit the three." Artest scored 25 points and Jermaine O'Neal added 19 to lead Indiana over Los Angeles for the 19th time in 21 meetings. "I played agressive and we came out with the win," Artest said. An All-Star forward, Artest hit several big shots down the stretch in the fourth quarter, the last coming on a one-handed floater with 11 seconds remaining that tied it, 87-87. The Clippers had a chance to win, but Eddie House's fadeaway 3-pointer missed everything as time expired. "It hurts," Los Angeles forward Elton Brand said. "It was a wasted 48 minutes. We played hard, but Artest hit some shots and they came back. We should have pulled this one out." Miller scored just six points, but his 3-pointer deflated the Clippers. The 17-year veteran caught an inbounds pass with six seconds left on the shot clock and calmly stepped into the shot well beyond the arc. "That's what he's known for," Brand said "That shot goes for him every time." That triggered a 9-2 closing run for the Pacers, who improved to 2-0 on their road trip. Los Angeles missed three of their last four shots and turned the ball over once. "We didn't have our first big spurt until overtime," Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said. "Reggie made a big shot. Who better to have spotting up for a wide-open three?" The Clippers held a 52-51 advantage at halftime, but the pace of the game changed as the teams combined for just 31 points in the third quarter. Brand led the Clippers with 24 points and Quentin Richardson added 23, but neither scored in overtime. Los Angeles has lost three straight and 10 of 13. "We've been playing hard against tough teams," Los Angeles coach Mike Dunleavy said. "I've been pleased with our defense. We just haven't been finishing the games out."
