Game StoryDALLAS (Ticker) -- The Dallas Mavericks spent some much-needed time at home before embarking on another important road trip. Dirk Nowitzki scored 26 points to lead five players in double figures as the Mavericks snapped a three-game losing streak with 103-90 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Dallas completed a winless three-game road trip with Sunday's loss at Houston but avoided matching its longest slide of the season. The Mavericks improved the league's best home record to 29-4 before beginning another three-game trek that starts in Sacramento on Thursday. "We talked about this being a huge game for us to kind of get back on the winning track," Nowitzki said. "We're more confident at home. I don't think we have that confidence in ourselves on the road. We've got a nice road stand coming up where we can improve in that area and show that we can win big games on the road." Dallas rallied from an early 10-point deficit and took control with a 23-9 run in the second quarter. Nowitzki scored eight of the Mavericks' final 10 points during the burst, which he capped with a jumper for a 54-37 cushion with 81 seconds left. "We struggled early on," Nowitzki said. "We had no rhythm, we had no energy. We started playing better defensively and that was the key." Dallas had its largest lead at 71-51 midway through the third quarter, but Phoenix pulled within eight early in the fourth. The Mavericks responded with 13 of the next 16 points, highlighted by six from Nowitzki, who made his first eight shots and finished 11-of-13 from the floor. "He had an incredible night," Dallas coach Don Nelson said. "He hasn't been making easy ones, but he's been making the hard ones." "We were playing defense on Nowitzki when he hit those jump shots," Phoenix forward Shawn Marion said. "At times, he is the only one that is seven foot on the court, so he should be able to get his shot off. At this same time, he was taking tough shots and hitting them." Antawn Jamison had 21 points and eight rebounds for Dallas, which rolled to its ninth consecutive win at American Airlines Center. Michael Finley scored 13 points, Steve Nash added 12 and rookie Josh Howard 10 for the Mavericks, who shot just 41 percent (40-of-96) but made 20-of-21 free throws and committed just seven turnovers. Dallas held a 50-41 rebounding advantage, scoring 22 points off 24 offensive rebounds. Eduardo Najera had nine rebounds and Antoine Walker and Howard grabbed eight apiece. Marion collected 29 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists to lead Phoenix, which lost for the 16th time in 21 games. Amare Stoudemire just missed scoring 20 points for the 12th consecutive game. He finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. "What's disappointing is the way we played," Stoudemire said. "We didn't do anything well out there and that's frustrating."
