Game StoryMILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Bucks were not about to drop another home game to the lowly Atlanta Hawks. Keith Van Horn and Michael Redd scored 23 points apiece as the Bucks avoided a season-high fourth straight loss with a 94-80 victory over the Hawks in the opener of a four-game homestand. Van Horn also grabbed 11 rebounds and made 13-of-14 free throws for Milwaukee, which gained a split of the season series. Atlanta won two of the previous three contests, including a 101-93 victory at the Bradley Center on November 28. "It wasn't our best game of the year," Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said. "But it was a win, so that dressed it up a bit for us. When you come off three losses, any win is pretty to us." The Bucks trailed, 28-23, following the first quarter, but allowed just 12 points in the second period and never trailed after taking a 46-40 halftime lead. "I don't think it was an ugly game," Redd said. "We played, for the most part, well. "Our defense still needs a little work. We came out and were mentally tough tonight." Jason Terry scored 20 points and Chris Crawford added 18 for the Hawks, who have dropped nine of their last 11 games. "Right at the beginning of the second half, we had a lot of good looks and they could have changed the complexion of the game," Hawks coach Terry Stotts said. "Neither team really shot the ball that well. They got to the free-throw line in the second half and that got us away from the tempo that we wanted to play." The Bucks shot under 41 percent (33-of-81) from the field, but made 26-of-32 free throws. The Hawks shot 39 percent (30-of-77) and made only 16-of-23 free throws. "I think free throws made the difference tonight," Redd added. "We made our free throws and we made plays." The Hawks closed to 56-54 on Crawford's jumper with 5:23 left in the third quarter, but Milwaukee ended the quarter with a 14-7 spurt and led by as many as 15 in the final minutes. Joe Smith and Desmond Mason added 10 points apiece for the Bucks, who committed just 10 turnovers. "We've been playing well at home and we want to win as many of these four games as we can, all of them if possible," Smith said. "We just want to take care of our home court right now."
