Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Eddy Curry scored 27 points, including a jump hook with 23 seconds remaining in overtime that lifted the Chicago Bulls to a 114-110 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, who have lost a season-high 10 straight games. The Bulls snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Clippers dating to the 1999-2000 season. "Eddy took his time and showed nice composure," Chicago coach Scott Skiles said. "He looked it over and finished with his hook, which is nice." "That last play was exactly how Scott said it would turn out," Curry said. "This is the first time in my career I've dealt with a coach who can translate the clipboard onto the basketball court. It's a unique situation." The Clippers held a 104-101 lead with three seconds to play in regulation but inexplicably left Jannero Pargo wide open. He buried a 3-pointer from the top of the arc that sent the game into overtime. "(Coach) told me to walk the baseline and just come off the pick and I just tried to cut it a little more by running the baseline really hard," Pargo said. "Antonio Davis set a great pick, Kirk Hinrich threw the ball on the money and I knocked the ball down." The basket was sweet redemption for Pargo, who missed a potential game-tying shot with five seconds left. After Pargo's attempt, Doug Overton missed the second of two free throws to keep Chicago alive. "We missed a big free throw," Los Angeles coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We were going to take a foul on the inbounds because we had one to give. There should have been a switch on the play, but there wasn't. When we got there, they were already in the act of shooting the three." The Bulls' triumvirate of guards Pargo, Hinrich and Jamal Crawford each scored over 20 points, combining for 65. Crawford tied a season high with 12 assists and Davis collected a season-high 17 rebounds. "Guys were making shots," Crawford said. "When we play like that we are a tough team to beat. Everybody came in and played their role tonight." "Since we don't play them again, I guess I can say that is not a great defensive club," Skiles said. The last time four Bulls scored 20-plus points was during a 132-128 overtime loss to Cleveland on November 16, 1985. That day, Orlando Woolridge, Dave Corzine, George Gervin and Sidney Green accomplished the feat. Corey Maggette tied a season high with 34 points and Elton Brand added 25 for the Clippers, who fell to 2-3 in overtime this season.
