Game StoryORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Tayshaun Prince got some much-needed confidence as the Detroit Pistons tuned up for the playoffs. Prince scored a career-high 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting as the Pistons extended their winning streak to seven games with a 101-89 victory over the lowly Orlando Magic. Detroit (53-27) received 15 points from Prince in the first half in building a 56-37 lead. The 6-9 Prince surpassed the 20-point plateau for the first time since February 2 in the second half, taking advantage of a series of smaller defenders. A fast start helped propel Detroit, which scored its first 14 points on dunks and layups. The Pistons made 11 of their first 15 shots, thanks to the high-percentage offense. "Our guys made some unselfish plays and I think that is why there were a lot of dunks in the first quarter," Prince said. "We were just in the right place in the right time." The Pistons have won 15 of their last 17 games. They went 3-1 against the Magic this season. Orlando, which continues to play without NBA leading scorer Tracy McGrady, dropped its 13th straight game. Rookie Reece Gaines was a bright spot with a season-high 14 points. "We did not start the game out with the commitment you need to win a basketball game and when you play that way against a good team like Detroit, you put yourself in an awful bind and that's what we did," Orlando coach Johnny Davis said. Detroit finished with a season-high 34 assists despite missing starting guard Chauncey Billups due to a sprained ankle. Reserve Mike James picked up the slack by contributing 12 points and eight assists. The Pistons overwhelmed the Magic inside, piling up a 58-28 advantage in points in the paint. Corliss Williamson led a strong bench effort with 13 points. "More than anything, it is experience that we have now," said Pistons forward Ben Wallace, a former Magic. "We have been there to the Eastern Conference finals and know what it takes to get there." DeShawn Stevenson scored 21 points to lead Orlando, which has not won since a 108-99 triumph over Washington on March 10.
