Game StoryCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- LeBron James has helped develop an edge at Gund Arena for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who prevented the Milwaukee Bucks from clinching home-court advantage. Playing the final home game of his rookie season, James scored 27 points to lead the Cavaliers to a 93-89 victory over the Bucks. Needing a win to secure home-court advantage in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, the Bucks (41-40) missed 15 of their final 20 shots. They took a 73-69 lead into the fourth quarter but went more than five minutes without a basket. The Cavaliers will miss the playoffs for the sixth straight season but finished with 23 home wins, their highest total since 1997-98. A big reason has been James, the Akron native and top pick in last year's draft who helped boost attendance to better than 18,000 a game. In front of the 16th sellout of the season, James made 9-of-20 shots, dished out nine assists and teamed with point guard Jeff McInnis to outplay Milwaukee's backcourt. He scored 14 points in the second half and gave the Cavaliers the lead for good with a breakaway dunk that made it 88-87 with 65 seconds to play. "You know I don't want to go out like that," said James, who gave his jersey and sneakers to fans after the game. Cleveland also got a big night from center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The 7-3 center, who has battled injury problems, collected 18 points and 14 rebounds. "From day one to now, I'm most excited about (Ilgauskas)," Cleveland coach Paul Silas said. "We need to keep the core together and improve." Desmond Mason scored 25 points for Milwaukee but had just four on 1-of-9 shooting in the second half. The Bucks are tied with Miami for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee was done in by a poor start in the fourth quarter, missing eight straight shots while the Cavaliers reeled off 11 straight points for an 80-75 lead. "It boiled down to fast-break points, really," Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said. "They had 26 fast-break points to our seven." Milwaukee also got a sub-par game from All-Star Michael Redd. The Ohio native had 12 points while matched against former Buck Kevin Ollie. "We've got to execute and figure out what we're going to do in the fourth quarter," Redd said. "The fourth quarter is going to be big in the playoffs."
