Game StoryPHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers kept missing shots down the stretch, but Chris Wilcox kept cleaning up the mess. Wilcox made a reverse layup off an offensive rebound as time expired as the Clippers snapped a 13-game losing streak with a 98-96 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Wilcox scored 10 of his career-high 24 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds, including two on the offensive end on Los Angeles' final two possessions. "For me to come back and have a game like this, it will give me a lot of confidence," said Wilcox, who played just his second game since returning from an ankle injury. The Clippers blew a 15-point second-half lead but had a 96-93 edge after Wilcox tipped in a miss by Quentin Richardson with 16 seconds to go. Shawn Marion buried a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 13 seconds left for the Suns, setting up the final play. Richardson missed a runner in the lane and Wilcox grabbed the loose ball. He missed a wild layup but secured the rebound and flipped the ball off the glass and into the basket as time ran out. "On the last play, Q got it and took it to the basket, missed the shot and it fell into the right hands," Wilcox said. "We went out and played a physical game and things went our way." Elton Brand had 30 points and 11 rebounds for the Clippers, who won for the first time since defeating the Suns here on March 16. Los Angeles shot just under 50 percent (42-of-85) from the floor and held a 53-42 rebounding edge despite playing without leading scorer Corey Maggette, who sat out with a strained right hamstring. "We just wanted to attack," Brand said. "We're just battling, trying to be relentless, hit the boards. We're not giving up on the season, as they're not." Amare Stoudemire collected 29 points and 14 rebounds and Marion added 24 and 10 as Phoenix (28-53) fell into a tie with Los Angeles for the worst record in the Western Conference. "This was a rough loss," Stoudemire said. "We are just trying to put together a streak before the end of the season. We have really come a long way and we have much to prove next season." The Clippers bridged the halves with a 23-5 run to take a commanding lead. Wilcox scored five consecutive points during the spurt, which gave Los Angeles a 59-44 cushion after Doug Overton's jumper with 11:06 remaining in the third quarter. "We dug ourselves a hole early and it was hard for us to get out of it," Marion said. "This loss exemplified our season." The Clippers had a 76-65 advantage with 2:16 remaining, but the Suns scored 17 of the next 21 points. Marion scored eight points during the stretch, burying a 3-pointer for the Suns' first lead since the second quarter.
