Game StorySEATTLE (Ticker) -- Ray Allen and Antonio Daniels combined to give the Seattle SuperSonics an improbable comeback win. Allen scored 34 points and Daniels added 28 - both season highs - as the SuperSonics erased a 21-point deficit for their sixth straight win, a 118-113 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. Playing without forward Danny Fortson, who was serving a one-game league suspension, Seattle did little to defend Memphis and trailed, 100-84, through three quarters before erupting in the final period. Daniels scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, including the first five points in a 9-0 run that opened the period. The surge was capped by a dunk by Rashard Lewis. Allen also scored 11 points in the period, although none until the 4:11 mark, when he cut the deficit to 107-105. His 3-pointer with 2:10 left tied the game, 110-110, and a soft jumper in the lane 32 seconds later gave the Sonics their first lead since late in the first quarter. "You guys tell me how we won that game," Allen joked with reporters. "I'm still asking myself that question. I thought defensively we tightened the screws in the fourth quarter. AD (Daniels) hit a lot of big shots for us and he's been playing great for us." Four free throws by Allen and two by Luke Ridnour sealed the win. Allen said Seattle was able to get by despite not having the physical Fortson. "The mood was dead starting the game," Allen added. "I think (Fortson's) presence was missed. We have relied on him a lot up to this point and I think Nick (Collison) and Jerome (James) came in a did a great job for us to fill that void." Daniels, who fell two points short of a career high, said the tempo of the game changed in the fourth quarter. "We started playing defense in the fourth quarter," he said. "I think that was the biggest thing. For the first three quarters it was just run-and-gun. In the fourth quarter, when they made mistakes we took advantage of them." Before the collapse, the Grizzlies set a franchise record for second-quarter points with 42, taking a 71-61 halftime lead. But Seattle stepped it up defensively in the fourth and held Memphis to just 4-of-15 shooting. The Sonics made 12-of-17 shots from the floor in the period. "It's a 48-minute game," Seattle coach Nate McMillan said. "We were down 16 at the start of the fourth so we just wanted to slowly get back into the game. Get a stop, score, get a stop, score, and that's exactly what we did to get back into the game." The Grizzlies' Pau Gasol scored 25 points but missed two shots, one free throw and had the ball stolen by Ridnour with 81 seconds left and Memphis trailing, 112-111. "We had six turnovers in the first three quarters, and then had six turnovers in the last quarter," Grizzlies coach Hubie Brown said. "We missed two critical foul shots. We miss a couple of easy shots inside the paint and then we missed a pass for a dunk. "I thought our lack of execution down the stretch was very discouraging." Prior to the shocking turnaround, Memphis had won its last seven quarters by a combined score of 196-151.
