Game StoryDENVER (Ticker) -- Andre Miller, Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets prevented the Orlando Magic from opening a six-game road trip on a positive note. Miller had a season-high 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and Anthony scored 28 points as the Nuggets defeated the Magic, 115-102, for their eighth victory in 10 games. "It was a good team effort," Miller said. "We definitely shared the ball tonight and got everyone involved." Kenyon Martin added 23 points and 12 rebounds for Denver, which improved to 6-1 against Eastern Conference opponents. This was Martin's second straight double-double and eighth of the season. The Nuggets are 8-0 in those games. "We were just aggressive. We did everything we wanted to do," Martin said. "We dictated the tempo. Now we have to go out and do the same thing on the road." Martin and Anthony scored 15 points apiece and Miller 12 in the first half as Denver opened a 68-46 advantage at the break. Orlando pulled within 88-74 entering the fourth quarter but did not threaten in the final 12 minutes. "The story of the game was defense or lack of it," Magic coach Johnny Davis said. "You just can't come out and spot them that many points. We have no excuses." Rookie Dwight Howard collected 23 points and 10 rebounds and Steve Francis added 23 points for Orlando, which played without center Tony Battie, who was serving a one-game suspension for elbowing Memphis' Pau Gasol on Saturday. "Hopefully we can come back against Utah and have a better game," Howard said. "We've got some hurt soldiers and all of us got to keep work hard out there. We've got to step up and do our job even better now." The Magic had won 13 of their previous 14 games against the Nuggets. Denver center Marcus Camby suffered a left knee contusion in the first half and did not return. Camby is day-to-day and will likely start against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday in the opener of a seven-game road trip against the Eastern Conference. The Nuggets finished a stretch in which they played nine of 10 at home. "Teams are going to be ready for us on this road trip," Anthony said. "We want people to know what they saw at the beginning of the year was a fluke. Just a bump in the road."
