Game StorySACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Chris Webber was unavailable with a sore left knee. Luckily for the Sacramento Kings, they did not need him against the expansion Charlotte Bobcats. Peja Stojakovic scored a season-high 30 points with 12 rebounds and Brad Miller added a season-best 27 points to make up for Webber's absence as the Kings posted their 12th win in 13 games, a 109-92 victory over the Bobcats. Greg Ostertag got the start for the injured Webber, who took the night off to rest the same knee that forced him to miss all but 23 games last season. "I was excited," said Ostertag, who scored just two points in 13 minutes. "When something like this happens, you just have to be ready to go." Without Webber, the Kings struggled with the Bobcats' pick-and-roll in the first half and needed a late run to take a 55-48 lead into the break. Miller helped wake up Sacramento in the third quarter, scoring five points in an 11-2 run to make it 66-50 with 7 1/2 minutes left. "When they got it up to 12, I knew we were in trouble," Charlotte coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. Steve Smith drew Charlotte within 74-62 with a 3-pointer three minutes later, but Stojakovic scored eight points in the final 4:26 of the period to help Sacramento take a comfortable 85-69 advantage into the fourth quarter. "I just tried to be aggressive coming off the screens and get open looks," Stojakovic said. Smith scored 16 points and Kareem Rush added 14 in his debut for the Bobcats, who are the only winless road team in the NBA (0-8). "We're young and we're an expansion team," Smith said. "We've been in games, but not this one." The shorthanded Bobcats, who dressed only nine players due to injuries, jumped on Sacramento in the first quarter, using a 16-4 run at the end of the period to take a 28-22 lead. While Ostertag took Webber's spot in the starting lineup, it was Darius Songaila who took advantage of the extra playing time. Songaila provided a spark off the bench, scoring 10 of his career-high 17 in the second quarter. He also grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds in 37 minutes for the Kings, who improved to 7-1 in their first meeting with an expansion team. Rookie Emeka Okafor, who played 52 minutes in Monday's double-overtime loss to the Clippers, recorded his eighth straight double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds but tired late. He did not hit the rim on a free throw in the fourth quarter. "My shots were short, that last free throw had nothing on it," Okafor said.
