Game StoryATLANTA (Ticker) -- Mike Fratello is proving to be quite an influence on the Memphis Grizzlies. Pau Gasol scored 24 points and Mike Miller and Stromile Swift each added 13 as the Grizzlies recorded their third win in four games under Fratello, a 97-89 triumph over the Atlanta Hawks. In a familiar scenario, Fratello was named coach of the Grizzlies on December 2 following the retirement of Hubie Brown. In 1981, Fratello made his coaching debut with Atlanta when he became an interim co-coach after Brown was fired. "It's exciting. It's a great opportunity to be with this organization," Fratello said. "I was waiting for the right situation. We have a lot of young people." With a 572-465 career record, Fratello seems to have rubbed off on Memphis, which won two of its first three games under his guidance. In this one, the Grizzlies needed a strong showing in the fourth quarter to emerge with just their third win in nine contests. "I like my coach's mentality," Gasol said. "He came in and made a good impact on us. He's still learning the players and some plays. He's keeping us focused." Antoine Walker scored 14 points in the third quarter, including four during an 8-0 run that gave Atlanta a 66-65 lead. But Memphis opened the final period with six straight points, including four by Bonzi Wells. "We were right there, up one going into the fourth," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "We were in perfect position. I think fatigue set in. They made some big shots down the stretch." The Grizzlies never looked back, maintaining a slim lead before Mike Miller's 3-pointer with 25 seconds to go made it 92-86, sealing the victory. "The last time we ran that same play, (Atlanta) helped out (defensively)," said Miller, who was 5-of-7 from the field. "Next time, I said, 'Look for me,' and Pau found me." Memphis shot 67 percent (10-of-15) in the fourth quarter, while Atlanta was just 8-of-20 for 40 percent. Gasol shot 10-of-13 from the line, Swift blocked five shots and Lorenzen Wright and Earl Watson each scored 11 points for Memphis, which has won four of its last five meetings with Atlanta. "It was a tough game, we let them back in it," Gasol said. "In the fourth quarter, we executed pretty well and were able to get the lead." Walker had 31 points and nine rebounds for the Hawks, who have dropped 10 of their last 11 overall. "Obviously, it's disappointing," Walker said. "We're playing well enough to win, it's just the small plays. We just never could get over the hump. We haven't done a good job finishing. We could never get control of the game." Al Harrington had 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting, six rebounds and six assists for Atlanta.
