Game StoryCLEVELAND (Ticker) -- Jeff McInnis scored eight of his 16 points in the final three minutes as the Cleveland Cavaliers held off the New Orleans Hornets, 100-91. One of three Cleveland players with double-doubles, McInnis completed a three-point play to snap an 89-89 tie with 2:16 remaining, then drilled a 3-pointer to make it 95-89 with 1:29 left. McInnis was 5-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc. He also handed out 10 assists for his second double-double of the year. "I gotta give LeBron (James) most of the credit," McInnis said. "He got the shot for me down the stretch." "He worked on his shot a lot because he knew, for the most part, I'm gonna be getting a lot of double-teams," said James, who was one rebound shy of becoming the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double. "I need a player that can knock those shots down. That's a big shot. (McInnis) said he needs to start going to the hole more, but the way he's been shooting the three, I don't want him to go." Cleveland led by as many as 12 points in the first half, thanks to the play of James, who had 11 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds in the first two quarters. Drew Gooden also recorded a double-double for the Cavaliers with 18 points and 18 rebounds. It was Gooden's eighth double-double in his last 13 games. Gooden's follow shot tied the contest, 89-89, with 4:02 left. James finished with 22 points and a career-high 14 assists. "When he plays like that, it makes the game so much easier for me," McInnis said. "I want to see the tape just to see some of those passes." New Orleans used a 14-0 run over the first 3 1/2 minutes of the second half to erase Cleveland's 53-42 halftime lead. "We've just got to continue to be aggressive as far as attacking the basket," Hornets coach Byron Scott said. "I thought in the first half we played real soft. We just didn't come out and play with any aggressiveness. Then in the second half, we did and that's why we got back into the game." Cleveland rallied from a six-point deficit in the final 6 1/2 minutes. The Cavaliers closed the game with a 15-4 run in the five minutes, including a crucial 3-pointer by Eric Snow with 59 seconds remaining. It was Snow's first 3-pointer of the year in his 11th attempt. "I thought the most important (shot) was Eric's shot out of the corner because he normally doesn't shoot threes," Cavaliers Paul Silas said. "I thought that propelled the win." LeBron James had seven points in the final 8:16 of play. He also dished out four assists over that stretch. "We have just been executing down the stretch," James said. "I saw us go down six and it was time to go into attack mode. Once I start attacking, I know double teams are coming, and Jeff McInnis made some big shots. Eric Snow made a big shot." James also just missed a triple-double in his last game with 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. "I was aware of it," Silas said. "I think he (James) was aware of it, too. (James) and Drew were going up for a couple of rebounds that (James) thought he had, and they ended up getting knocked out of bounds. That's the way it goes. He'll have plenty of time to get triple-doubles." "It just wasn't meant to be," James said. "I'm not mad. I'm happy that we got the win. Drew stole all the rebounds, but we played well." Lee Nailon scored 18 points to pace the Hornets, who dropped their fifth straight overall and 12th straight on the road to fall to an NBA-worst 2-24 record. Dan Dickau's two free throws gave New Orleans an 85-79 lead with 6:32 to go.
