Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- Limited to a seven-man 
rotation, the Sacramento Kings could not keep up with Jason
Richardson in the second half.

Richardson scored all 26 of his points after the break and hit a
big jumper late to lift the Golden State Warriors to their
first win in over six years in Sacramento, 98-94.

"(This win) is huge for us," Richardson said.  "Sacramento's
pretty much had our number for the past couple years. I'm just
glad we finally got a win here."

The Warriors had lost 11 straight in ARCO Arena dating to a
93-88 triumph March 9, 1998 and appeared to be headed to another
defeat as the Kings closed the half with a 10-2 run to take a
46-36 lead at the break.

"I thought the first half lacked some energy on both sides,"
Warriors coach Mike Montgomery said. "I thought defensively we
just got more energetic (in the second half) and didn't let them
get what they wanted."

With its bench severely shortened without injured sixth man
Bobby Jackson, Sacramento began to wear down in the third,
allowing Golden State to go on a 20-4 run to take a 65-60 lead
with just under three minutes remaining in the period.

"You can't use (fatigue) as an excuse," said Kings center Brad
Miller, who tied season-highs with 13 rebounds and seven
assists.  "Not executing, that's basically what it comes down
to.  We're not playing with enough energy. We aren't finishing
games like we used to. It's something we've got to get back to."

After a basket by Chris Webber cut Sacramento's deficit to
67-66, Richardson, who scored six points in the spurt, added 10
more in a three-minute stretch to ignite a 22-6 burst that made
it 89-73 with just under five minutes to play.

The Kings caught their second wind, drawing within 91-88 on
Webber's free throw with 51 seconds on the clock, but Richardson
came around a screen and nailed a 22-footer over Peja
Stojakovic to push the advantage back to five and sealed the win
with five free throws down the stretch.

"They had a big run going on and I knew I had to knock down a
shot," Richardson said. "I came off the pick and hit a big
shot."

Webber scored 28 and Stojakovic added 18 for Sacramento, which
finished its five-game homestand 2-3 and lost consecutive games
at home for the first time since January 2003.

"We got what we deserved," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We
didn't play with energy. They deserved to win, we didn't."

"This is a good quality win for our team," said Warriors guard
Derek Fisher, who scored 10 points off the bench. "The trick is
figuring out how to do this at home."

After Mike Bibby hit a driving layup that gave Sacramento a
56-45 advantage with 7:44 left in the third, Jason Richardson
made two free throws with 6:42 left to start a 20-4 run.

Richardson, who missed all six of his shots in the first half,
added two jumpers and Cliff Robinson scored seven in the rally,
which ended on Mickael Pietrus' 3-pointer that gave the Warriors
a 65-60 advantage with 2:58 left in the period.

"I told myself if it's not going to be a scoring night tonight,
then rebound or play defense'" Richardson said. "I hit a couple
of shots in the third and got my confidence back, got back into
it."

Troy Murphy scored 19 and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Warriors,
which scored a season-high 37 points in the third quarter.
