Game StoryMEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Mike Miller, Earl Watson and James Posey stepped up when the Boston Celtics' offense checked out. Miller, Watson and Posey combined for all the points in a decisive fourth-quarter run as the Memphis Grizzlies posted a 117-109 triumph over the Celtics. The Celtics (12-15) were leading, 97-85, just 75 seconds into the fourth quarter when a 3-pointer by Miller ignited a 16-0 burst. Miller made a pair of shots from the arc and a free throw, Posey buried a 3-pointer and Watson had a three-point play before capping the burst with a 3-pointer with 6:41 remaining. "This was a learning experience tonight from the standpoint about what this team did last year," Grizzlies coach Mike Fratello said. "I haven't seen us make a run like that this year, and it was definitely an educational experience." "We were slacking in the first half," Memphis center Stromile Swift said. "We just came out and stepped it up in the second half. We played better defense and were hitting shots." Memphis' Pau Gasol had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Bonzi Wells came off the bench to add 18 on 8-of-13 shooting in 18 minutes. Miller scored 12 points overall as the Grizzlies had six players score in double figures. "The whole thing that's special about our team is that every night it can be someone new, someone different," Miller said. "Tonight, our bench was good and scored a lot of points." "We were fighting back the whole time," Gasol said. "The feeling of fighting was there the whole game, but they were just making shots. We knew that the last quarter was our last chance to come back and make our run." Raef LaFrentz scored a season-high 28 points and Walter McCarty and Paul Pierce added 18 apiece for the Celtics, who fell to 5-11 on the road but play four of their next five games at home. Boston was held to 15 points in the final quarter, making just 5-of-20 shots. During the game's decisive run, the Celtics missed six shots and committed three turnovers. "We played 35 good minutes," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "Unfortunately, it's not a 35-minute game." "We have to get good shots, that's crucial," LaFrentz said. "You can't have shot clock violations at the end of games." Memphis' 117 points were a season high and the most points scored by the team in regulation since March 2003. "They made a lot of good shots," McCarty said. "You have to give them credit. They stepped up and made a lot of big shots."
