Game StoryORLANDO, Florida (Ticker) -- Despite Jason Kidd's landmark triple-double, the Orlando Magic were able to match their longest winning streak of the season. Grant Hill scored 22 points and Cuttino Mobley and Hedo Turkoglu added 19 apiece as the Magic recorded their third straight win, a 104-101 triumph over Kidd and the New Jersey Nets. After falling one assist shy of a triple-double in Friday's victory over Golden State, Kidd accomplished the feat in this one with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. It was his first of the season and 60th career, moving him past Larry Bird into fourth place on the all-time list. But the Nets dug themselves too deep a hole, falling behind, 84-65, when Turkoglu hit a 3-pointer with 10:11 to go. New Jersey put together a 14-1 run to pull within 95-91 with 1:28 remaining, with Kidd scoring six points and Jason Collins and Richard Jefferson adding four apiece. But Mobley was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in the final 25 seconds to clinch Orlando's longest winning streak since December 1-4. "I thought Cuttino stepped up and made just huge free throws for us to close the game out," Magic coach Johnny Davis said. "They made free throws when they had to and that was pretty much the game," Kidd said. Despite his strong performance, Kidd shouldered the blame for his team's large deficit. "I put my teammates in a bad situation," said Kidd, who was 3-of-13 through three quarters before scoring 15 points in the fourth period. "I took a lot of shots and they all felt good, but they were short or long. I put us in a deficit and tried to stay aggressive. I wish I could have made some in that third quarter so the deficit wouldn't have gotten so big." "Kidd is the maestro," Nets coach Lawrence Frank said. "He coordinates it all and finds open people. Unfortunately, that third quarter just put us in the type of hole where, when you're on the road and you're down 19, it makes our job that much tougher." In the third period, New Jersey was just 5-of-20 from the field and went 6:31 without a basket. "I just think our guys renewed their commitment to defense," Davis said. "We don't want to go into a game thinking of outscoring teams. We need to go into the game thinking about ways to interrupt what they do on the offensive end." "We don't have a shot when we don't play defense," Mobley added. "But the last three games, we've been playing well on defense and we just got to continue." The Nets outscored the Magic in the fourth quarter, 40-27, and closed to 101-99 on a 3-pointer by Kidd with 10 seconds to go. "(Kidd is) the guy who was actually trying to will that game for New Jersey tonight," Davis said. "He got going, hit some threes and really kind of ignited them a little bit." Steve Francis scored 16 points and dished out nine assists and Dwight Howard had 14 and 13 boards for Orlando, which halted a four-game skid against New Jersey. Collins had a career-high 20 points and nine rebounds, Jefferson scored 17 points and Vince Carter added 16 and nine for the Nets, who have dropped three straight on the road. "We have to do our job and we have to do it for four quarters," Carter said. "We didn't really put a complete game for four quarters."
