Game Story

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Despite being the new kid on the block, Cuttino Mobley has made quite an impression. Mobley scored 19 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 59 seconds left, as the Sacramento Kings completed a home-and-home series sweep with an 89-83 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Acquired from Orlando for Doug Christie a week ago, Mobley scored 13 points in his debut with his new team Saturday, including a crucial layup with 99 seconds remaining in a 99-95 win over the Clippers. "I'm having fun," Mobley said. "I'm lovin' it. I'm just trying to do what they want me to do out there. That's score and get some energy. Maybe when you are on a winning team, your defense shows up better." Mobley made 5-of-12 shots, including a key 3-pointer that gave Sacramento an 85-83 lead with less than a minute remaining. He also made a pair of free throws with 26 seconds left to seal Sacramento's seventh straight victory over Los Angeles. "Chris (Webber) saw me open across the court," Mobley added. "That was big of him to look over here instead of taking the shot. He trusted me, which says a lot for this team." "I just love playing with people who want to compete," Webber said. "I just love the people who have good energy because they make me better. And he has that great energy, hustle and desire. He's funny. On the court, just being able to converse with somebody like that when you are missing or playing bad, it kind of keeps you focused on having fun and doing what's right." Webber had 23 points and 14 rebounds for Sacramento, which overcame a 55-48 rebounding deficit for its fourth straight win. Webber had 36 points and 10 boards Saturday. "We played the game well, but we didn't rebound well," Webber said. "We were able to get the win and we needed that. This team (Clippers) is really good, so truthfully we are going to try and kick them when they are down because when they start chugging they are going to be real tough to beat. We were fortunate to get out of here with a win today." Elton Brand scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Chris Kaman added 18 and 15 for the Clippers, who missed all six of their 3-pointers and have lost four of six. "We were up five points in the fourth quarter and feeling comfortable but just couldn't get it," Brand said. "They really stepped up and executed correctly. They are a good team and they have played together and they knew what to do when it came down to clutch time." Corey Maggette made just 2-of-17 shots, missing a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left and the Clippers trailing by two points. Kaman was short on a follow shot. "I think the effort is there," Maggette said. "Our team has been playing extremely hard doing the things we have to do. We just didn't shoot the ball well tonight. We gave ourselves the opportunity to win although in the beginning we just shot poorly. I put most of it on me because I shot 2-of-17." Maggette mused why the Clippers shot so poorly. "I think there was an iron lid on the basket tonight," Maggette added. "One or two plays at the end kind of hurt us. The foul with 36 seconds to play was on me and I wasn't trying to foul. I was just trying to jump in front of (Mike Bibby)." Bibby went on to make both of his free throws for an 87-83 lead. Guard Kerry Kittles, the sharpshooter who has battled injuries in his first season with the Clippers, left in the second quarter with a right groin strain, placing more pressure on Los Angeles' perimeter players. "I'll be all right," Kittles said as he left the locker room. "It's not serious."
