Game Story

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- After suffering back-to-back losses at home for the first time this season, Rashard Lewis and the Seattle SuperSonics came out looking to make a statement against the Utah Jazz. Lewis matched a career high with seven 3-pointers and scored 36 points as the SuperSonics closed out a five-game homestand with a 122-105 victory over the Jazz. Matt Harpring's layup reduced Utah's deficit to 109-101 with 3:39 remaining before Lewis hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a game-ending 13-4 run. Ray Allen scored five of his 20 points during the burst as the SuperSonics posted their fourth straight victory over the Jazz. "They are a good team, you have to give them credit," Harpring said. "Their point guards are doing an excellent job of finding the guy we are leaving open, and those guys are knocking the shots down. I can't see them shooting that well every night. That was a display." Lewis hit 12-of-17 shots, including 7-of-8 from the arc. Seattle shot a sizzling 59 percent (38-of-64) overall, sinking 13-of-22 3-pointers. Antonio Daniels scored 17 of his 24 points in the first half to lift the SuperSonics to a 62-47 lead. He was 10-of-11 from the foul line as Seattle made a season-high 33 free throws on 45 attempts. Daniels had been critical of the Sonics' overall effort in their previous two games, but felt a lot better about Sunday's win. "We are a much better team when the ball moves," said Daniels, who had eight assists. "When the ball moves from hand to hand and no one cares who shoots, Everybody gets their opportunities to make plays and make shots, and tonight we knocked them down." Lewis buried a pair of 3-pointers to give Seattle its largest lead, 70-51, before Utah battled back. Mehmet Okur scored eight of his 19 points and Carlos Boozer added seven as the Jazz outscored the SuperSonics, 29-16, over final nine minutes of the period while reducing their deficit to just 86-80 entering the fourth quarter. Seattle opened the final quarter with a 15-4 run, rebuilding its lead to 101-84 lead with just over nine minutes to go. Vladimir Radmanovic hit a jumper to spark the run, Lewis added a 3-pointer and Nick Collison scored seven of his nine points. "They were able to find the right people and put it in the right spot where they could make shots," Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. "And when they got them, they made them." Utah's Andrei Kirilenko scored 14 points and blocked two shots in 14 minutes in his second game since coming off the injured list. "We couldn't match up with them as well when Andrei had to go out of the game," Sloan said. "We are only allowed to use him so much and he can only go so long. That's what the orders are and we don't want to do anything to jeopardize his career. He can only go six or seven minutes at a stretch right now." Boozer totaled 20 points and 12 rebounds for Utah, which dominated inside, outscoring Seattle in the paint, 54-30. The Jazz have lost four of their last five games. Authorities at the Seattle Center received a bomb threat shortly after the game, forcing KeyArena to be evacuated.
