Game Story

SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Kings did not need Chris Webber to get their worst home loss in nearly a decade out of their system. Brad Miller collected a season-high 31 points and 12 rebounds and Peja Stojakovic added 25 points as the Kings - minus the injured Webber - manhandled the New Jersey Nets, 113-93. On Sunday, the Kings absorbed a 103-73 loss to the San Antonio Spurs - their worst home defeat since a 40-point setback to the Houston Rockets on December 12, 1995. Sacramento also lost the versatile forward Webber to a sprained right ankle in the second quarter, and he did not dress for this one. "When (Webber) is out for a game like this, a bunch of us need to step up as a group and that's what it was," said Miller, who made his last 11 shots and has connected on 74 percent (25-of-34) of his attempts in his last three games. "I got my jumper going and everything was working well." "The guys came out and played well," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "I had two guards that were really good at distributing the ball and Brad had a terrific game. It was a solid win after the other night." Sacramento has won all four games that Webber has missed this season and improved to 52-3 against Eastern Conference teams over the past four seasons. The Kings had their way early with the Nets, shooting 53 percent (10-of-19) in the first quarter en route to a 30-18 lead and taking a 56-45 cushion into the break. Sacramento pushed the advantage to 88-68 after three quarters and rested its starters for much of the final period. "The guys on the court have to put in the effort," Nets guard Jason Kidd said. "Just defensively, we didn't execute the game plan well." Recent acquisition Cuttino Mobley recorded 20 points and 10 assists and Mike Bibby added 19 and 10 for the Kings, who had a total of eight assists against San Antonio - their fewest since moving to Sacramento before the 1984-85 season. "I like to pass even though I'm a scorer," said Mobley, who had 16 points and six assists after intermission en route to his first double-double of the season. "You've got guys on this team who know what to do with (the ball). So it's fun to pass. You get an easy 20 and 10." "I said before the game we'd respond well," Bibby added. "It was a very good game. We had two people with 10 assists and shot the ball well. In the back of our minds we're ready for (the Spurs)." Sacramento plays the Spurs for the final time this season Thursday in San Antonio. Vince Carter scored 23 points to pace the Nets, who have lost six in a row at Sacramento. "We're just trying to find momentum and get it all together," Carter said after the Nets fell to 15-26 overall and 8-10 since his arrival. "You just have to keep fighting and playing. You never know what happens in the end, especially in our division." Kidd had just eight points on 3-of-10 shooting for New Jersey, which shot 42 percent (35-of-83) and allowed Sacramento to connect on 55 percent (41-of-74). "I shoulder the blame," Nets coach Lawrence Frank said. "With that type of performance it's going to be hard to beat anybody."
