Game StoryOAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Brian Scalabrine's stellar night lifted the New Jersey Nets to a much-needed road win. Scalabrine recorded his first career double-double by collecting a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds and Jason Kidd and Vince Carter added 17 points apiece to lead the Nets to a 113-99 victory over the struggling Golden State Warriors. New Jersey won its first road game in 10 tries against Western Conference opponents and tied a club record with its fifth consecutive win over Golden State, which has lost 12 of its last 13 overall. The mounting losses have upset Warriors guard Jason Richardson. "It's frustrating," he said. "We don't have any energy. We've got to play hard. In this league, you're not given respect. You have to take it, especially when you're a losing team. "You've got to lay it all on the line, you've got to go out there and play hard, everybody. We've got guys down and when guys go down, others have to step up and we've got to play at another level. We've got some soul searching to do individually and as a team." The Nets closed out the first quarter on a 19-7 spurt and never was headed thereafter. Rodney Buford scored eight of his 20 during the burst and Scalabrine added six. "I had a great time," Scalabrine said. "It was probably the first time in the NBA that I've ever been in the zone. Flat out, everything I threw up was going in." "Scal was en fuego tonight," Kidd said. "He played well. We only have nine guys so maybe the key was he knew he wasn't coming out of the game. Everybody played well and it's just a matter of getting some bodies because we're shorthanded." The Warriors drew within 60-54 with 7:50 left in the third when Richardson's jumper capped an 11-3 run. Despite going scoreless in the first quarter, Richardson finished with 31 points. Just 25 seconds later, Buford connected on a 3-pointer and Scalabrine completed the four-point play after he was fouled away from the ball. "That was really a very strong team effort," New Jersey coach Lawrence Frank said. "It was filled with some very special individual performances. Brian Scalabrine obviously on both ends was phenomenal." The Nets connected on 54 percent (45-of-84) of their shots en route to a season-high 113 points. "We've got to improve on defense," Golden State coach Mike Montgomery said. "Everyone who comes in here shoots 50 percent plus. We have to raise our energy level and find a level to compete at to win games." Playing in his hometown, Kidd added eight assists and Carter tied his season best with nine on his 28th birthday. "This is a big win," Carter said. "I think this was a big team effort. We didn't play a great game in Sacramento, very little effort, very little motivation it seemed like. It's just great to see the effort and the contributions from everybody."
