Game Story

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- At the most critical moment of the game, the Milwaukee Bucks were glad Michael Redd had the ball in his hands. Redd scored 32 points, including a 17-foot jumper with 15 seconds remaining, to give the Bucks a 92-90 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Bucks beat the Clippers for the sixth time in their last seven meetings at home. Los Angeles saw its three-game winning streak end. "He (Redd) played great and had a couple quick scores and really caught fire," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We made some timely plays tonight to get over the hump and pull this one out," Bucks coach Terry Porter said. Marko Jaric made a 21-footer with 2:16 remaining to give the Clippers an 88-86 lead before Redd tied it with a pair of free throws on the next possession. Bobby Simmons' layup gave the Clippers their final advantage, 90-88, with 1:40 to play. The Bucks responded with a pair of foul shots by Desmond Mason to deadlock the contest with 1:07 to go. "We just kept ourselves in it," Mason said. "And down the stretch we made some big plays for a big win for this team." After Simmons missed a 19-footer, Milwaukee worked the ball around to Redd, who hit the go-ahead shot from the right elbow. "I was going to take the three, but they had that defended," Redd said. "That wasn't the play of the game, though. The defensive stand (on the last possession) was the play of the game." On Los Angeles' final possession, Rick Brunson missed a contested baseline fadeaway jumper, and the rebound bounced away as time expired. "It's the story of our season, lack of execution," Clippers forward Elton Brand said "I went to kick the ball out to make the play, but the play wasn't there." Mason scored 15 points and Dan Gadzuric added 11 with 14 rebounds for the Bucks, who had a 50-32 edge on the boards. "This just wasn't our night on the boards," Clippers center Chris Kaman said. "Half of their shots were easy put-backs." Brand scored a season-high 31 points and Simmons added 21 for the Clippers, who lost for the seventh time in their last eight road games. They began a stretch of nine games away from home with a win at Memphis on Wednesday.
