Game StoryTORONTO (Ticker) -- Dirk Nowitzki's hot shooting continued the Dallas Mavericks' outstanding record in Sunday matinees. Nowitzki scored 30 points and Michael Finley added 23 as the Mavericks returned their to winning ways with a 122-113 victory over the Toronto Raptors. The Mavericks entered the contest 4-0 in Sunday afternoon games this season and Nowitzki kept them perfect as he made 13-of-22 shots, pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked four shots. Dallas bounced back from Friday's one-point loss at Indiana and has won three of its last four games. Dallas led by as many as 25 points in the third quarter before Toronto closed to 98-93 on a jumper by Donyell Marshall with 8:53 remaining in the game. Nowitzki responded with three straight jumpers to make it 104-94 with 7:45 left. But the Raptors would not go away as Morris Peterson made a steal and layup with 2:12 remaining, then buried a jumper 56 seconds later for a 115-111 deficit. "I guess that's Toronto's pattern," said Dallas interim coach Avery Johnson, who improved to 7-3 in coach Don Nelson's absence. "They let you get up and feel good about yourself and get down by 20 and then they show you the real team. We had them down really big and they fought back and fought back." With Jerry Stackhouse out with a strained right groin, Jason Terry responded with a 3-pointer for Dallas with 36 seconds left and Nowitzki blocked a layup by Jalen Rose seven seconds later to seal the win. "We got to take it to another level. We've been eliminated from the playoffs early the last couple of years and it was because of our defense," Nowitzki said. "But if we want to get to the next level we've got to get the stops, especially down the stretch in the fourth quarter." Toronto had a two-game winning streak snapped despite a career-high 29 points by second-year forward Chris Bosh. Bosh made 13-of-14 free throws and pulled down eight rebounds before fouling out in the closing seconds. "I don't care, we did win," Bosh said. Erick Dampier had 13 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth straight double-double and Terry added 15 and 11 assists for the Mavericks, who shot 60 percent (47-of-78). "Offensively, we pretty much got what we wanted all night long," Nowitzki said. "We shot 60 percent from the floor, that really doesn't happen very much. I think it was a good win for us, especially after just losing at Indiana, so we've got to move on." The Raptors dropped to 2-11 this season when opponents shoot over 50 percent. Stackhouse scored 11 points before leaving with 8:36 left. "I've been having a little tightness in my groin from the injury I had in the Clippers game a couple of weeks ago," Stackhouse said. "I just drove the lane and got it in that spot and it felt like a little pull or something. Hopefully, I'll just take care of it the next couple of days and be ready for Tuesday (vs. Chicago)." Rose scored 22 points, Peterson 21 and Marshall chipped in 19 for Toronto, which shot 52 percent (41-of-79), including 12-of-22 from the arc.
