Game StoryWASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Wizards relied on a pair of All-Stars to get back in the win column. Gilbert Arenas scored 30 points, including 13 during the decisive third quarter, and Antawn Jamison added 27 as the Wizards snapped a three-game skid with a 93-83 triumph over the Memphis Grizzlies. After edging the Los Angeles Clippers on February 11 for their fourth consecutive win, the Wizards lost three straight road games to enter the All-Star break on a down note. "I was very disappointed with our last three games before the break," Jamison said. "That's unacceptable. Our mind frame was, the break was coming up and we just kind of went through the motions. ... We took a giant step back before the break." But after making their first career appearances in the midseason gala, Arenas and Jamison helped Washington begin the second half in a positive way, combining for 36 points during the team's second-half surge. "We need them to do a lot of things out there," Wizards coach Eddie Jordan said. "They need to fill the boxscore up. There are no off nights for them." Trailing 44-42 at halftime, the Wizards followed a 3-pointer by Jason Williams with a 17-3 run to take a 59-50 lead with 6:01 remaining in the third quarter. Arenas scored nine points during the burst. "We just had to fight off being tired," Arenas said. "We haven't played in seven days and everyone was getting a little bit winded. Even I was getting winded, and I don't get tired, so I know how the other guys must have felt. But we sucked it up and got the job done." Washington scored the final seven points of the period before opening the fourth quarter with an 11-3 spurt in which Jamison scored six. "I thought we played an outstanding first half," Memphis coach Mike Fratello said. "With a 21-8 discrepancy at the (free-throw) line at halftime and you're still up two points, you've given yourself a chance to win. But in the third quarter, we gave ourselves no chance to win." Arenas reached the 30-point plateau for the 11th time in 17 games and also grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds and dished out six assists. "I've got to start rebounding," Arenas said. "That's what we're lacking on defense is rebounding, so in the second half, that's what I'm going for - rebounding and playing defense." Jamison also pulled down 10 boards for the Wizards, who have won five straight at home. "The important thing for us is we have to realize we haven't accomplished anything," Jamison said. "We're nine games over .500, but we've still got a long way to go. There's still room for improvement and there should still be a hungerness inside of us. There should still be a lot of goals we want to obtain." Washington also received a boost from forward Kwame Brown, who was activated from the injured list before the game and contributed two points, two rebounds and three assists. Brown had missed the previous 26 contests with a strained tendon in his right ankle. "I felt pretty good," he said. "I just wanted to get the cobwebs off. These guys are going at a different pace than I am. My mind is going 100 miles an hour, so I just have to slow down a little bit. ... When I get my timing and rhythm back, I can give us a consistent presence in the post." The Wizards also activated guard Larry Hughes, who did not dress but is expected to play this weekend. "We think he might be ready Friday," Jordan said of Hughes, who has been sidelined since fracturing his right thumb against Phoenix on January 15. "We think very positively about Sunday." Mike Miller had 16 points and eight rebounds and Shane Battier and Brian Cardinal scored 14 points apiece for the Grizzlies, who have lost three straight games - their worst stretch since Fratello took over as coach December 2.
