Game Story

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Rashard Lewis and Reggie Evans helped give the Seattle SuperSonics another enjoyable visit to the Windy City. Lewis scored 30 points and Evans grabbed 19 rebounds as the SuperSonics came back from a 15-point deficit for a 99-93 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Seattle, which lost to Chicago at home on Friday, split the season series and won its seventh straight game at the United Center. Chicago (32-29) fell two games behind Cleveland in the race for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Chris Duhon made a running one-handed shot and was fouled by Vitaly Potapenko with one second remaining in the first half. He followed up his missed free throw with a layup as time expired to give the Bulls a 57-46 halftime lead. "The first half was a combination of things that had been happening to us, like turnovers and not containing the ball," Seattle coach Nate McMillan said. "In the second half, we came out aggressively." Evans had 12 rebounds in the third quarter and helped spark a 25-6 run that included 15 straight points. The SuperSonics went in front when Ray Allen hit a jumper with 2:26 to go for a 69-67 edge. "The rebounds are just a challenge for me," Evans said. "In the third quarter, we needed some energy and Luke (Ridnour) and I just got it going." Chicago missed 10 straight shots over the final 6:50 of the third quarter and was held to 12 points in the period. "I thought they got tired," Allen said. "We kept bringing in fresh bodies. We have guys who can score and (the Bulls) got tired." Lewis scored eight consecutive points in the final period, capped by a jumper with 5:53 remaining to put the SuperSonics in front, 84-77. Antonio Davis brought Chicago within 95-93 on a runner with 25 seconds to go, but the Bulls got no closer. "That was disappointing," Chicago coach Scott Skiles said. "We came out early in the second half, took control, then we just let them back in." Allen scored 17 points for Seattle, which had a 51-43 rebounding edge and raised its road record to 22-8. "We are still growing as a team," Allen said. "At times, we surprise ourselves with the things we do, like when we rise from the ashes when it looks like we are down for the count." Ben Gordon scored 21 points and fellow rookie Andres Nocioni added 15 for Chicago, which had five players in double figures but failed in a bid to sweep Seattle for the first time since 1996-97. "We just did not play our best ball," Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich said. "They are a good team and you have to bring your best game when you play a team like that." The Bulls were charged with 37 fouls, a United Center record for one team.
