Game StoryCHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bulls had the dubious distinction of becoming the first team in the NBA this season to let the New Orleans Hornets come back in the fourth quarter. In their latest disappointing effort, the Bulls endured a surprising 94-90 loss to the Hornets, who got a pair of big baskets down the stretch from Jamaal Magloire. Playing without injured leading scorer Eddy Curry for the second straight game, the Bulls struggled for much of the night and held just a 69-68 lead entering the fourth quarter against the Hornets, who have the worst record in the Western Conference. But the Hornets, who had been 0-42 when trailing after three quarters, used a 12-0 run early in the fourth quarter to take the lead. They eventually squandered it before making plays in crunch time to take it back. "We're a bunch of young guys playing out there learning how to close it in the fourth quarter," New Orleans coach Byron Scott said. "Tonight, we were patient, especially with our offense late in the game and dug down deep to win this one." Magloire, in his second game back after missing 51 contests with a fractured finger, scored inside to pull the Hornets within 83-82. After Dan Dickau and Kirk Hinrich traded baskets, Magloire scored down low with 1:30 left, giving the Hornets the lead for good. Bostjan Nachbar made two free throws with 34 seconds left to give the Hornets an 88-85 edge before Tyson Chandler threw away an inbounds pass. P.J. Brown followed with a jumper with 14 seconds to go to all but seal things. Hinrich made six 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead the Bulls, who have lost four straight and seven of their last 10 games. "This one hurts. We have been struggling, we have to get our edge back," said Hinrich, who suffered a strained hamstring in Wednesday's loss at New Jersey. Curry's absence also was felt as the Bulls were outscored, 44-10, in the paint. "I don't know that they did that much in the box," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. "A lot of those came off penetration. Their guards were driving at will on us. They did not always score, but they caused our bigs to step up. They created a lot of problems for us. We struggled to guard them most of the night." A 2004 All-Star, Magloire scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He had 13 points in the first half, helping the Hornets to a 52-46 lead. "We were more aggressive out there because of Big Cat's presence," Scott said. "We've missed that all season. He plays a physical and aggressive style out there and it gets us all going." "I defnitely thing Big Cat (Magloire) led the charge early," Brown said. "He really established the inside game. Everything fell into place after that. We had a nice little rhythm after that. It was our best offensive basketball I've seen this year." Dickau, who scored 17 points, made a layup with 9:53 left in the third quarter to give the Hornets their biggest lead at 60-48. But Bulls battled back with a 15-4 surge, capped by a pair of 3-pointers from rookie Ben Gordon to pull within 64-63. Gordon scored 14 points and Chandler had 13 and 15 rebounds for Chicago, which shot just 38 percent (26-of-69) and committed 20 turnovers. Speedy Claxton added 14 points off the bench for the Hornets, who improved to 4-28 on the road despite going 1-of-13 from the arc.
