Game StoryCHICAGO (Ticker) -- Eddy Curry's nearly flawless start was too much for the Indiana Pacers to overcome. Curry scored a season-high 27 points in three quarters as the Chicago Bulls won their fifth consecutive game, a 100-96 triumph over the Pacers. Chicago (37-31) moved within one-half game of Washington for fourth place in the Eastern Conference and home-court advantage in the opening round of the playoffs. Curry made 9-of-11 shots before leaving the game in the final period with a bruised right knee. "He took a hit on the knee and it swelled up very quickly," Bulls coach Scott Skiles said. "I don't think it was anything to worry about. With ice, rest and treatment, he will be OK." "My team did it all for me tonight," Curry said. "I found myself in excellent position tonight and the guys were looking for me downcourt. I'm going to take a day off to rest my knee." Rookie Ben Gordon scored 10 points and Othella Harrington had eight in the period to pick up the slack and give Chicago a 94-82 advantage with 1:51 left. Indiana closed with a 14-5 run and cut the deficit to 99-96 with less than 10 seconds left on consecutive 3-pointers by Stephen Jackson, who scored 34 points. Rookie Luol Deng made 1-of-2 free throws to seal the win for Chicago. Curry has made 30-of-42 shots in his last four games. He was 6-of-6 and scored 18 points in the opening quarter, giving the Bulls a 33-23 lead. Indiana opened the second half on a 9-2 burst capped by when a 3-pointer and 17-footer by Fred Jones to pull within 57-54. Gordon scored 20 points and Harrington added 14 for the Bulls, who never trailed and had a 48-40 rebounding edge. Indiana coach Rick Carlisle and veteran guard Reggie Miller were ejected by referee Blaine Reichelt with 3:08 to go in the second quarter for arguing. "I just wanted to know why they ejected Reggie," Carlisle said. "The next thing I know, I'm gone because I defended my guy. I never want to start with the officials. It's not a good thing to do when it's a moot point." Jones added 20 points and Austin Croshere 16 for the Pacers (35-34), who are seventh in the East, just one-half game ahead of Philadelphia. "We really wanted to come back from this road trip with a winning record," Croshere said. "Every win this late in the season is big-time for us. Especially this season where we had so many things happen to our team. This loss was a big disappointment for us. No excuses. We did not take advantage of our opportunities."
