Game StoryAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Rasheed Wallace made the biggest shot in a duel with Paul Pierce. Wallace drained a dagger 3-pointer with 12 seconds to play in overtime, lifting the Detroit Pistons to a 105-99 victory over the Boston Celtics in a battle of division leaders. "When (Wallace) wants to be, he can be the best player in the league," Detroit assistant Gar Heard said. "He came out tonight wanting to play." Pierce scored 32 points, including all 11 of Boston's points in the extra session. He rattled in a shot from the arc to give Boston a 99-98 lead with 48 seconds left. Wallace scored 31 points, his most since joining the Pistons just over a year ago. He answered with a pair of free throws. "There was the one play where we scored and didn't get back on defense," Boston coach Doc Rivers said. "They penetrated, got to the line and made two foul shots. That was the single biggest play of the game. That one play shows the difference between us and them. We were celebrating a little bit that we were up one, and they kept playing. That is what champions do and that is what we want to become. " After Antoine Walker missed in the lane, Wallace iced the game with his 3-pointer from the left wing. He added 11 rebounds. Detroit got just eight bench points, all from Antonio McDyess. But the Pistons welcomed back guard Richard Hamilton and stopped a three-game skid. Hamilton sat out all three losses with a sore ankle and showed everyone what the Pistons were missing with 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. The 49 minutes he played set a new career high. "It was one of them things where I was looking from the sidelines and I told Arnie (strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander), 'I don't care what's going on tomorrow, I'm coming back,'" Hamilton said. "He said, 'I was thinking the same thing.' When you're losing, you want to be in the trenches with them. You don't want to be on the sideline watching." Atop the Central Division, Detroit (43-26) improved to 6-1 in overtime this season, with the only loss a 115-113 double-overtime setback at Boston on February 11. The Pistons are also 9-0 at home against Atlantic Division opponents. "Last time we were up there in Boston we went to double OT," Wallace said. "It was a good game but we came out on the losing side, so we had to make sure we definitely got that one tonight." Walker scored 15 points on just 7-of-21 shooting for Boston (38-32), which has dropped three in a row but still leads the Atlantic Division. "You look at all the little lapses tonight that hurt us and those are the things we have to clean up," Pierce said.
