Game StoryCHICAGO (Ticker) -- Kirk Hinrich and Tyson Chandler made major contributions to help the Chicago Bulls satisfy their seven-year itch. Hinrich scored 25 points and Chandler added a season-high 18 with 21 rebounds as the Bulls clinched their first playoff berth since 1998 with a 110-97 victory over the Toronto Raptors. "It feels so great," Hinrich said. "I know we have some games to play. But we're in the playoffs and that's exciting. We have a bunch of young guys. So just to be going is fantastic." Chicago (44-32) won for the 12th time in 13 games and qualified for the postseason for the first time since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen led the squad to its sixth NBA championship in eight years. "This is a huge turnaround for our franchise," Bulls general manager John Paxson said. "Scott (coach Scott Skiles) has done a better job that anybody in the league. Our guys work hard every night and I can't discount what they have done. This is great for our franchise." The Bulls never trailed and took command with a 19-4 run bridging the first two quarters. A short jumper by Othella Harrington capped it at 47-28 with 8:21 left in the first half. Toronto got five points from Eric Williams in a 17-6 spurt to get within 85-77 at the end of the third period. But Chicago maintained its poise and scored seven straight points in the fourth quarter to keep control. Rookie Andres Nocioni made a steal from Jalen Rose and drove for an easy layup with 3:44 to go. Hinrich hit a short jumper and Nocioni fed Chandler, who hit a layup, was fouled by Chris Bosh and sank the free throw with 2:19 left. "I just wanted to come out and play aggressive since this was such a big game for our team," Chandler said. "We came out fired up and played with great energy and this feels great." "They were just more athletic than us," Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said. "We had no answer for Tyson Chandler. They just killed us on the boards." Nocioni scored 16 points, Antonio Davis added 13 with 13 rebounds and Harrington 12 for Chicago, which has won six straight home games and leads the league with 35 victories since January 1. Chandler, who had a season-high 22 rebounds against Orlando on Wednesday, never felt the Bulls would win 44 of 67 games after starting the season with nine losses. "Never, definitely not, no," Chandler said "You could not have told me that. But this team stood by each other, no matter what." Rose scored 19 points, Morris Peterson 18 and Bosh and Rafer Alston 17 apiece for the Raptors, who have dropped nine straight meetings with the Bulls and were eliminated from the playoff race. "I will use the fact we'll miss the playoffs as motivation," Bosh said. "I'll remember this feeling when I am in the weight room working on my game. I want to win games and this is frustrating."
