Game StoryLOS ANGELES (Ticker) - Shaun Livingston is the latest glimmer of hope for the Los Angeles Clippers. Livingston continued his strong play with 15 points and 10 assists, leading the Clippers to a 94-85 victory over the Utah Jazz. A 6-7 guard, Livingston is making the most of his increased minutes late in the season. Making his 11th straight start, the 19-year-old recorded his first career double-double and did not have a turnover in 36 minutes. "My job on this team is to get players involved," Livingston said. "Make them better and make them more effective when they are on the court." After the Jazz pulled within 33-31 late in the second quarter, Livingston kicked off the decisive surge with a driving dunk. He followed with assists on back-to-back dunks by Chris Kaman and Bobby Simmons and buried an 18-footer, giving the Clippers a 41-31 lead. "I found a rhythm tonight," Livingston said. "I felt comfortable and I pushed the ball and got easy buckets for the guys. I saw that I didn't have any turnovers and that was definitely my biggest accomplishment of the season as a personal goal." Livingston has played in just 26 games due to an assortment of injuries but will figure prominently in Los Angeles' 2005-06 plans. "Sometimes it goes through my mind about our injuries," he said. "The reality is that we didn't have a couple of guys this year to make the best of this season." Marko Jaric, who scored 20 points and handed out seven assists, capped the first half with a long 3-pointer to give the Clippers a 45-33 advantage. Utah did not get closer than 10 points until the final minute of the game and completed a 1-3 road trip. Elton Brand had 25 points and 10 rebounds for Los Angeles, which played without coach Mike Dunleavy and leading scorer Corey Maggette. Dunleavy was attending to a medical emergency involving his father and Maggette is out for the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left wrist. "I feel pretty good," Brand said. "I'm sorry the season is just about over. We're getting guys healthy now and some guys back who are playing very well. Now it's time for the offseason." Brand was one of many to praise Livingston's play. "He is really coming along," Brand said. "A double-double in points and assists and no turnovers. Quite amazing. We just have to stick together and work hard this offseason." "When he has the ball in his hands, he just runs the show," said assistant coach Jim Eyen, who filled in for Dunleavy. "The exciting thing about it for his teammates is that when you run the floor and keep moving he will get you the ball. He gets you the ball in an operating position, in spots that you can catch it and be successful. He has a terrific feel for the game." Matt Harpring scored 18 points to lead the Jazz. "This is definitely the worst year for me by far," Harpring said. "There's really no second. We've been competing, but this is really a good opportunity for the young guys because otherwise they wouldn't even be playing." Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was displeased with his team's play despite having a limited lineup due to injuries. "If you don't know what you're doing out there it becomes a mess," Sloan said. "And we kind of had a mess because we had four or five possessions we didn't know what we were doing. They pinned us down on the baseline and it took us about four plays to recognize it. Those things will hurt you if you're going to try and compete in games that are important."
