Game Story

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons are playing so well down the stretch that seldom-used reserves like Ronald Dupree are leading them to victory. In his first game back from the injured list, Dupree scored a career-high 20 points as the Pistons stretched their season-high winning streak to nine games with a 99-73 victory. Dupree did not look like someone who had not played since March 23 because of back spasms, scoring 10 points in the final period as Detroit outscored Milwaukee, 27-10, in the quarter. "I've been saying it all year, if you get the minutes, you get the opportunity to play, you can make things happen," Dupree said. "Tonight was extra special. 'Los (Carlos Arroyo) and 'Los (rookie Carlos Delfino) were passing the ball very well, so I give credit to my teammates. It was a very exciting and fun game." Arroyo had eight assists and Delfino added a career-high seven as the Pistons continually went inside on the Bucks, outscoring them, 58-26, in the paint. "It was like a volleyball contest out there," Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said. "They were just throwing the ball up and dunking it on us. We weren't getting back on defense and we were turning the ball over. We were encouraged, because we were still in the game, even as bad as we were shooting. But it got away from us in the fourth." Tayshaun Prince scored 17 points in 30 minutes and Ben Wallace collected 15 points and 11 rebounds in just 24 minutes for Detroit (52-27), which is locked into the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. "If you could write it out how you wanted it to be, that would have been it," Detroit coach Larry Brown said. "Especially the way the bench played. Normally in the fourth quarter we're holding on, but tonight we held Milwaukee to 10 points." After Rasheed Wallace gave the Pistons the lead for good, 36-34, on a 3-pointer with 3:43 remaining in the second quarter, Dupree scored four points during an 8-2 spurt to close the half and give the Pistons a 46-39 lead. Desmond Mason scored 15 points for the Bucks, who have lost 13 straight road games. "This is very frustrating," Bucks guard Michael Redd said. "You have to keep your head up, but inside, it's terrible." Redd, Milwaukee's leading scorer, had to leave the game in the third quarter with left Achilles tendinitis. He is doubtful for Saturday's game against Orlando. "It was bothering me late in the first half, but I wanted to give it a try after halftime," Redd said. "After that, we decided to sit it out."
